BREAKING: One of the most important and prominent reporters on the ground in Gaza has been Anas Al Sharif.

He - and several other Al Jazeera journalists - have just been assassinated by Israelis forces whilst in their press tent in central Gaza.

I want to talk a bit about Zohran Mamdani's inspiring 12-point victory, and why he's got the billionaire class running scared. How did Zohran pull off his win? Simple: He campaigned relentlessly on lowering costs for families. He built a grassroots movement so strong that millions of dollars in attack ads couldn't touch him. On primary election night, Andrew Cuomo conceded. The people picked Mamdani, but it turns out there are some billionaires and Wall Street CEOs who can't stand the idea of a mayor who wants them to pay their fair share to create a city that everyone can afford. So the billionaires are dumping millions and millions of dollars into the race, backing either of two deeply flawed candidates: Cuomo and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams. Maybe we should be asking ourselves why these Wall Street executives are pouring in millions of dollars to stop Mamdani, the affordability candidate.

I shouldn’t be surprised that Elizabeth Warren is clearheaded about this, but it’s nice to see. A lot of people want to pretend that Mamdani and Fateh are flukes, complete accidents, but we voted for them for a reason. They won. The end.

I’m generally apprehensive about all the self-driving features and weird sensors and computerized bits going into newer cars, but the upside is that it would probably be very straightforward to implement this in new vehicles.

This! I tend to accelerate slowly on surface streets so that my hybrid stays in EV mode, and it’s very rare that a car speeds around me and I don’t catch up to them at 2+ further intersections. In cities there’s often no need to even get to the speed limit between lights, bc you’ll stop regardless.
