No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.
It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
in order: purchasing on bandcamp, streaming or purchasing from qobuz, streaming from most other platforms (apple music, tidal, deezer, etc.), or pirating (if financially unable to afford other options) are all valid alternatives to supporting the spotify corporation.

Elizabeth Taylor in an 80s press conference speaking on the stigma of AIDS “…And it so angered me that I finally thought to myself, Bitch, do something yourself.” from the documentary “Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes.”
there’s a scene in the new documentary where Elizabeth Taylor is talking about the stigma of AIDS and how she got involved in the movement and it’s fucking everything

I've tried a few Wizardry-like games but Etrian Odyssey has me HOOKED. It was way more difficult than I expected at the beginning, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Turns out manually mapping floors is something I really enjoy! A great game on the Ally.

Big news in British Columbia! The all party Democratic and Electoral Reform Committee has recommended a Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform after months of hearings. 1/10

Looking forward to getting my steps in for the election next fall. We can't afford such unserious governance.

Every other store will carry it. Just not Steam.
It was sickening to see @lennynanzhou.bsky.social chastise @lucymaloney.bsky.social over showing emotion in the council chambers while talking about *130 people dying* during the heat dome. ABC making moves like this is ridiculous.
Showing emotion over needless death doesn't "cause division"

23.11.2025 17:26 — 👍 2282 🔁 749 💬 13 📌 9Update November 22. We’ve updated this article after realising we contributed to a perfect storm of misunderstanding around a recent change in the wording and placement of Gmail’s smart features. The settings themselves aren’t new, but the way Google recently rewrote and surfaced them led a lot of people (including us) to believe Gmail content might be used to train Google’s AI models, and that users were being opted in automatically. After taking a closer look at Google’s documentation and reviewing other reporting, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Gmail does scan email content to power its own “smart features,” such as spam filtering, categorisation, and writing suggestions. But this is part of how Gmail normally works and isn’t the same as training Google’s generative AI models. Google also maintains that these feature settings are opt-in rather than opt-out, although users’ experiences seem to vary depending on when and how the new wording appeared. It’s easy to see where the confusion came from. Google’s updated language around “smart features” is vague, and the term “smart” often implies AI—especially at a time when Gemini is being integrated into other parts of Google’s products. When the new wording started appearing for some users without much explanation, many assumed it signalled a broader shift. We’ve revised this article to reflect what we can confirm from Google’s documentation, as it’s always been our aim to give readers accurate, helpful guidance.
If you have been sharing that Malwarebytes article on the Gmail thing, you should note the giant correction up top.

FYI doing this turns off the automatic sub-folders Gmail likes to use (Promotions, Updates, etc), though I'd consider that a small price to pay for disallowing AI scanning of all my emails.

I suppose you could say that, in the sense that a bird cage is transparent when there are no birds in it.
