Loved this. Deliciously evil performance from Vincent Price and stunning cinematography from Nicholas Roeg. I thought the inclusion of Poe’s “Hop-Frog” worked really well as a subplot in this. Might be Corman’s best? Ever timely. Put it in The Criterion Collection.

I’ve never made it to 100. I just watch what I can and enjoy the ride.

2. The Masque of the Red Death (1964) Dir. Roger Corman #100HorrorMoviesin92Days

Enjoyed this. Sufficiently creepy with great atmosphere and a lively performance from Roddy McDowall (one of our great quiet to LOUD actors). Would’ve loved to have seen how Mike Flanagan wouldn’t interpreted this and Matheson’s novel in The Haunting of Belasco House.

Been looking forward to it!

It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

This was fun! It is surprisingly brief, perhaps a little too brief. Great effects by Stan Winston and a fun cast. Pretty wild audiences got two star-studded B-movies, Lake Placid and Deep Blue Sea just a couple weeks apart. And it’s nice that neither movie ever got any sequels.😂

Now watching: Lake Placid (1999) Dir. Steve Miner

Best shark movie in a good while. Thrilling, gruesome w/ strong character work. Jai Courtney has found his niche between this and the SS films. He’s not a pretty boy actor, he’s a highly watchable psychopath. Need less wait time between Byrne movies. He don’t miss. Big thumb up!

Now watching: Dangerous Animals (2025) Dir. Sean Byrne

LOVED IT! Wonderfully captures the adventure of the comics. Remains focused on the 4. Cast is perfection. Not a false note. There’s a tense scene between Reed and Sue that gets to the heart of the characters that gave me chills. Silver Surfer chase scenes! Big G! Miniatures! “It felt warm.”

Already saw it! Pretty fun time.

“Sure is hot down here, brother.”

This is cool as hell. A mashup of comic books, kung-fu, Blaxploitation, punk rock, revenge, rap battles, music videos, basketball, sci-fi, and killing Nazis by the dozens. A love letter to Oakland’s past and present that shouldn’t work, but damn does it. Destined for cult status.

Lmao. Yeah of course he isn’t. But also, if running for mayor puts this much fear in the hearts of despots, imagine what we could do if the Dems actually ran real, progressive candidates.

I hate to hear this. Theo Huxtable was always my guy, and Warner did a lot of great things over his career (including producing The Magic School Bus). So sad. RIP.
