04.08.2025 04:13 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Loved this. Deliciously evil performance from Vincent Price and stunning cinematography from Nicholas Roeg. I thought the inclusion of Poeβs βHop-Frogβ worked really well as a subplot in this. Might be Cormanβs best? Ever timely. Put it in The Criterion Collection.

03.08.2025 01:46 β π 27 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Enjoyed this. Sufficiently creepy with great atmosphere and a lively performance from Roddy McDowall (one of our great quiet to LOUD actors). Wouldβve loved to have seen how Mike Flanagan wouldnβt interpreted this and Mathesonβs novel in The Haunting of Belasco House.

August 1st - October 31stβ¨via @spookysarahsays.bsky.social
The challenge, should you choose to accept, is to watch 100 horror movies youβve never seen between August 1st and October 31st.
1. The Legend of Hell House (1973) Dir. John Hough
Yes, itβs good though still very raw King.

4. Rage by Richard Bachman
βWhen you're five and you hurt, you make a big noise in the world. At ten you whimper. But by the time you make fifteen you begin to eat the poisoned apples that grow on your own inner tree of pain.β
Wall Street Journal headline and deck: "New York Shooting Puts Mamdani on the Spot Over Policing Views: The killing of four people in a Midtown office building rattled a city where mass attacks are rare and violent crime has declined."
It's really weird to demand accountability from a NYC mayoral candidate for a deadly NYC shooting rather than the current NYC mayor, an ex-cop who campaigned on a "tough on crime" platform and promptly got indicted for crimes

This was fun! It is surprisingly brief, perhaps a little too brief. Great effects by Stan Winston and a fun cast. Pretty wild audiences got two star-studded B-movies, Lake Placid and Deep Blue Sea just a couple weeks apart. And itβs nice that neither movie ever got any sequels.π
29.07.2025 03:41 β π 40 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0Now watching: Lake Placid (1999) Dir. Steve Miner
28.07.2025 02:19 β π 49 π 1 π¬ 2 π 2Best shark movie in a good while. Thrilling, gruesome w/ strong character work. Jai Courtney has found his niche between this and the SS films. Heβs not a pretty boy actor, heβs a highly watchable psychopath. Need less wait time between Byrne movies. He donβt miss. Big thumb up!

27.07.2025 02:37 β π 25 π 0 π¬ 2 π 2LOVED IT! Wonderfully captures the adventure of the comics. Remains focused on the 4. Cast is perfection. Not a false note. Thereβs a tense scene between Reed and Sue that gets to the heart of the characters that gave me chills. Silver Surfer chase scenes! Big G! Miniatures! βIt felt warm.β

24.07.2025 15:51 β π 43 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0This is cool as hell. A mashup of comic books, kung-fu, Blaxploitation, punk rock, revenge, rap battles, music videos, basketball, sci-fi, and killing Nazis by the dozens. A love letter to Oaklandβs past and present that shouldnβt work, but damn does it. Destined for cult status.

21.07.2025 23:42 β π 48 π 10 π¬ 2 π 0I hate to hear this. Theo Huxtable was always my guy, and Warner did a lot of great things over his career (including producing The Magic School Bus). So sad. RIP.

20.07.2025 02:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cronenberg gets personal. Darkly funny, conspiratorial, meditation on grief, body horror, love, doubles, and the unanswered questions weβre left with that not even technology can solve. Do we ever really know someone? Are their bodies as close as we can get? Whatβs lost in decay and amputation?
