"Jason Molina: Riding With The Ghost" was a quick but heavy read... unfortunately short like the life of its subject. Definitely queuing up "The Lioness" album in the morning so I can hear the line "We are proof that the heart is a risky fuel to burn" for the first time in a while. Book 55 of 2025.

Lee performed "God Bless the USA" at the opening of Knoxville Center Mall. After he christened the opening, he shook a few hands and stood to leave. On his way out, he attempted to slide down a hand-rail, but crotched himself instead. He looked around embarrassedly, and it still makes a great story.

Emily St. John Mandel's "Sea of Tranquility" is the 54th book I have completed this year. After watching "Station Eleven" a few years ago, my expectations were high, and this novel did not disappoint.

Keystone Kops level stuff there.

American Aquarium does a pretty solid job on that very song.

Book 53 of 2025 was "Billy Summers" by Stephen King. I bought "Duma Key" fairly cheap at the same time I bought this one and will likely be reading more King before the year's end.

Cut Worms converted me a couple of weeks back when he opened for Father John Misty. Bought a few of his releases on Bandcamp today.

Sun Kil Moon has a new song called "Dulcolax" and it is about exactly what you would think it is.

Come on, you know those "Matlock" commercials make you at least a LITTLE curious about watching.

It was so well-written I feel inclined to check out some of Chernow's other work. I think you'd enjoy it.

Exhaustive but never exhausting, "Mark Twain" by Ron Chernow is the 52nd book I have finished reading this year and with not a moment to spare, as it is due back to the library in the morning!

Tweedy's "Caught Up In The Past" lifted some chords from "This Year" by The Mountain Goats.

Robert Plant is mining the Low songbook again, and continues to do it justice.

Tonight's Father John Misty/Cut Worms show in Asheville was one for the ages. Josh Tillman plays the character of Father John Misty like a master - the crowd would have eaten out of his hand. Cut Worms did a great cover of "There She Goes"...

On a related note, "Grand Theft Parsons" might be one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I watch that performance with The Heartbreakers from a couple of years ago on the regular.

Bob Dylan really dropped the microphone on romantic songwriting with "Wedding Song". No verses before or since come close.

It is hard to champion a guy like Mark Kozelek, especially with all of the assault accusations made against him and having seen him live a few times, I have never seen an artist who loathes his audience more - just a complete douchebag in every way possible.

That first Sun Kil Moon record is one I would include in my top twenty of all-time. His material over the last thirteen or so years has been absolutely unlistenable.

Two episodes in and it doesn't really feel very special. Willing to give it a couple more episodes before giving up, however.

The thing I like most about this book is the section chronicling your journey through my native Tennessee. Also - how cool would it be to see Bob Dylan on a Lennon bus tour?!

Dude, you are in for a treat - that entire box set is amazing!

"Dune: House Corrino" by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson is the 51st book I have read this year. In many ways I have come to enjoy the Dune books these two have written almost as much as the originals by Frank Herbert.

If I had any issues with this Iron & Wine covers EP, it's that he chooses material that is beneath him.
