Colorado is just as far away, and 3 children were shot there today. Maybe we can care for those who had no say in this outcome instead of someone who deliberately encourage this.

I think possibly they think we will care because the elected dems they hang around care.
But the voters? I don’t think so.

The only 2 places I’m a regular are my grocery store and a bubble tea place. I can’t imagine either one having a nickname for me.

I move my lips “repeating“ what other people say. I haven’t found a way to mask it yet that doesn’t involve me not paying attention anymore.

3) Reward yourself with more dopamine

You did it. Congrats!

Now, don’t skimp on your reward. As long as it’s safe & you can afford it, do it

Ideally the reward should be better than the bribe

Do you want alone time, rest, a certain meal, going out, quality time w/ people etc?

I love this one! It’s something I’ve done for a while and it works well, especially if you have several playlists for specific tasks.

2) Make tasks fun, new, interesting, pleasurable, challenging in a good way

Fun/interesting things, pleasure, & light problem solving create dopamine, something ADHD folks are naturally low on (& it’s needed for motivation, focus etc)

You gotta attach dopamine to boring things

the problem of saying “ok I’ll do the thing & reward myself after” and the you find yourself just giving yourself the reward early & never doing the task

That’s because you need extra dopamine to even start a task b/c that’s just how your ADHD neurotype works

Something I’ve been helping my ADHD clients with attach dopamine to tasks:

My Before-During-After system

I could explain this in more detail on my blog/on video if y’all want

1) Bribe yourself with dopamine before the activity/task. Sweeten the deal for yourself.

Frontiers | Bridging worlds with words: translanguaging and its impact on identity formation among Jordanian graduate students in Ontario

Cool, translanguaging!

"Translanguaging, as opposed to code-switching, does not merely involve alternating between languages based on context; rather, it draws on the entirety of the speaker’s linguistic resources to construct meaning and facilitate communication."

I love to hear it. #LangSky

Looking at books together, following the baby's pace and interest, is a wonderful start to the shared reading experience. Early picture books can be discussed in any/all languages, setting the scene for children's multilingual literacy!

I’ve had some parents tell me they don’t want to read to their child because they(parent) can’t read. I usually start by handing them wordless picture books and asking them to tell their child the story. This works in any language. Have flyers at home? Point out prices, times. Any reading is good.

I’m teacher tired of this debate. Parents don’t need to be experts. But if you have never visited the library, spent time counting together, learning alphabet, pointing out signs and text , then I’m not sure why your child will feel motivated to learn. We must treat reading as an important skill.

I agree that we need to think outside of traditional grading systems. It has been difficult navigating the k-12 spaces that claim to want to measure mastery, then still use tests as the sole measure.
But I see the apathy students bring to non-tech tasks as though it’s irrelevant. Balance is needed.

The very first time my niece went to the grocery store after the COVID cautions were released, she pulled off her mask and licked the handle of the grocery store refrigerator. It’s just what they do.

Well, exercising working memory is definitely one part of that process. Another would be organizing the information from long-term and working memory into a cohesive whole and communicating the answer.

I don’t think it’s an either or, but honestly, the practice of learning something well enough to temporarily write competently about it is good. The content doesn’t need to stick but the process does.

Melted cheese and tuna over blue corn chips with whatever fresh veggies or pickled veggies are around. If it’s veggie like bokchoy that needs to be cooked, steam and drizzle with oil from the tuna before adding.

Rosa Roisinblit, activist for Argentina's 'stolen' children, dies at 106 The Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo campaign group announced Roisiblit's death on Saturday. The activist's pregnant daughter and son-in-law, both militants of the armed Peronist group Montoneros, were kidnapped in 1978, which led Roisinblit on a lifetime mission to help others find missing family members 'until the very end,' the group said.

He was making a joke about himself, and used “Asian” as a subtle way to identify that he was referring to himself. If he had said “some dude” it would’ve become more ambiguous and difficult to understand. You read it and assumed it was a slight, not a specific identifier.
