Being mildly autistic (although terribly social whilst being socially terrible) with an autistic adult child, I get that.
It can be an overwhelming "I just can't", and it's part of the core of your being and not explainable. They may feel dreadful about the refusal and don't want to miss out,

The initial suggestion was that the timeouts were very different. After testing, they aren't and the old algorithm is more like the new one that first suspected. There have been (bug related) changes. I don't think the differences are worth stressing over.

All versions exhibited similar timeout characteristics, but I did manage to hit a few unexplained & not repeatable issues in testing (e.g. ORA-04022 with a setting of 0.0001)
