Jeffries said Adam's was his second choice in the primary, when Adam's won the primary, he was basically already endorsed by Jeffries.

What possible reason is there to save a valuable endorsement to the last week? Did Jeffries give a reason why he delayed endorsement of a candidate chosen by the voters of his party?
