As a resident of #Portland it is impossible to capture how unhinged this is. We are a low crime city and the ICE protest "siege" consists of one auxiliary ICE office that normally has at most a dozen weirdos debating what performance art they should use to block a single driveway

There are a lot of things that would function better than the status quo. I'm just thinking about all the awful things I've written that start out "case when state = 'MD'" to deal with multimember districts there.

Multi-member districts are a direct attack on the political quant industry's mental health and blood pressure.

You're thinking of labor-intensive crops like fresh produce. Grain farming takes very little labor, to the point where most farmers have other jobs throughout the year.

The Admiral of course denied it at the time, and then quietly retired to serve on defense contractor and think tank boards from his home in Hawaii.

This is an agent of the US federal government, armed for live-fire combat against a modern army, slamming a passive and nonviolent female candidate for the US Congress into asphalt.

Then walking away without checking if she has injuries, with his identity concealed behind a black facemask.

The thread I'm replying to is re: the building trades jobs being temporary. Besides, data centers are industrial facilities, and it's not uncommon for there to be a lot more labor involved in building industrial stuff than running it. Think of a chemical plant or water treatment facility.

I didn't watch the whole thing, but I'm assuming `sudo make me a Korean BBQ sauce recipe` fixed the problem.

You can listen to them talking to ATC here (last one on the list). They seem to be fans of turning off ADS-B so that the public can't track excursions into airspace they weren't cleared into. www.liveatc.net/search/?icao...

What I was really disgusted by yesterday was Tillis' vote to keep the Epstein files secret.

My kingdom for film criticism that never lionizes the corny, the obvious, or the relentlessly melodramatic.

IIRC these were experimental attention check questions. They asked how people you know with that name and how many people you trust with that name. Trust > know was a sign that the respondent was giving random answers.

Yeah, the livery on the bottom looks like Park Police (white belly, navy tail), but N11PP was elsewhere at the time. N22PP last shows up on the ADS-B sites on Tuesday, though maybe they are using it with the transponder off. Those are the only two Bell 412's they have as far as I know.

@helicoptersofdc.bsky.social N11PP circling over Mt. P and Columbia Heights for the last 20 min or so with ADS-B turned off.

Update: As of 10am Friday morning there is a bird up over DC that is not broadcasting ADS-B. Can't imagine how anything bad could happen from that...

05.09.2025 14:08 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

FWIW I think it was the only federal bird up last night. I have a pretty good view of DC airspace from my roof deck in Columbia Heights and all I saw was this one and then an air ambulance run to Washington Hospital Center.

Well, they were asked to do it by a photographer for a book (see my self reply). I haven't read the book, but a lot of these folks are probably closer to being collectors than militia types. Whether there is a line between collecting and shopping addiction is another matter, not exclusive to guns.
