I’ve thought it’s interesting when pupils write that Jesus died for our sins in exam questions etc - do you think that students should keep their answers religion neutral? Or is it fine to write like that? I do agree that it shouldn’t be taught using that language as I’d see that as confessional

Understanding Sikhism by James Holt is really good and very detailed. Also I used the Collins: KS3 book by Neil McKain which I thought was good - and student friendly

Real treat from @theresthistory.bsky.social club for #TeamRE with the episode Charlemagne: Pagan Hunter for the @holland-tom.bsky.social β€˜s description of Christianisation of Europe . I don’t think the episode is out yet on the free version but great to look forward to for RE/History nerds like me

Tomorrow - unbelievable drama on @theresthistory.bsky.social, as we continue our series on NELSON!

Glory, then disaster, as he boldly disobeys his admiral's orders, captures 2 ships, almost single-handedly defeats a much larger fleet – & then, carried away, loses his arm...

I usually listen to historical podcasts when doing house chores, so now I am actually looking forward to unloading/loading the dishwasher because I want to know what happened during the French Revolution. No spoilers!

Incidentally, "The rest is history" is a great podcast.

Try to enjoy it! I always liked the 10 - 15 miles on my training runs. Chance to really get into the countryside too

Like anything - skills need to be rehearsed otherwise they slip the memory. I believe that exposure throughout school would be effective such as learning it early and revisiting through other subject matter.

β€œNoise begets noise… When you call a register, or answer a question or tell a student across the class to get started, you break that spell and the other students – whose attention has not yet concretised around their task – start to bubble up too.”

Lastly - I know others have said it but the REpodcast’s decolonising the curriculum series have been amazing at bringing me into the conversation about Dharmic Traditions and how to best present them especially considering potential challenges of using language - so another recommendation for that

Thirdly, I want to recommend James Holts β€œUnderstanding Series”- I have only read the Sikhism one but there’s also Buddhism out and Hinduism is due for release next month. Now these are definitely for depth of subject knowledge but there are great insights for how to bring them alive in classrooms

Love, Faith and Me Love, relationships, family life and having children. Personal stories reflecting on the biggest milestones in life, as seen from the perspectives of different faiths.

Secondly, I’ve seen lots of people asking about showing lived experience in the UK but I’ve not seen others recommending the Love, Faith and Me series on bbc player www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis... 5 episodes that deal with real issues (lgbt/fertility/dating) from 5 of the major religions (no Buddhism)

Buddhism Teaching Resources – Teach about Buddhism with a little help from Edinburgh Buddhist Studies

Firstly, no better resource for helping me teach Buddhism than the Teaching Buddhism Blog which is a project between Edinburgh/Cambridge blogs.ed.ac.uk/teachingbudd... the two video series they have Introduction/who is the Buddha come with full videos as well as, generously shared PPT with notes!

Just caught up with a few bits from the #TeamRE. #REchatUK on X. I’ve changed my X account to be more personal and less professional but I can’t help but join in the conversation. I’m sorry I missed it at the time I was flying to Vietnam. Made some recommendations that I’ll also post on this thread

Brilliant! WW2 museum too! We got cheap flights from Bristol airport. If you do go there’s an awesome dumpling place I would recommend. Steam and fried vegan dumplings blew my mind.

#TeamRE Old video I’ve worked on previously on Rastafari- I edited out age inappropriate content and manually added subtitles. Suitable for KS3/KS4. Had to reupload as lost access to previous account.
