It’s a fond childhood memory when my Minneota Twins won the World Series in 1999. The first 1999. Between 1988 and 1991. Not the later one. Time jumped around or something. It ate the S in Minnesota.

And Cleveland wins its cursed division with a negative run differential.

I did this once with Rolling Rock in college. It was … better than Rolling Rock.

A Muskie chases a smaller fish through the water. Its mouth a full of more teeth than you’d think possible. The Muskie’s black markings pop on the background. Its prey can’t possibly move fast enough to escape the icy, toothy death that rises from below.

I picked up Xtreme X-Men vol. 2 when it came out last year. I’m actually reading it now. Other than Mekanix, it’s all new to me.

Got sad word that Burl Gilyard, a beloved colleague from Minnesota Daily days and a fixture in local business journalism and music scenes, has died. Burl had chronic hereditary health problems but works his ass off for decades despite them. One of the sharpest, driest wits out there.

An overcast morning means I can start my work day in my favorite chair in the office without the sun searing my eyes.

I spent so much time with Mortal Kombat II and my Sega Genesis in my parents’ basement.

Plus, I’ve never read “Wanted: Santa Claus - Dead or Alive.” That story has to be good, right?

I recently picked up this copy of “The Complete Frank Miller Batman,” which is a collection from 1989.
I love when I find collections of 1980s comics that were printed in the ‘80s. The paper and color seem closer to how the comics originally looked and makes the experience richer.

He was cleared for zoomies.

When looking at the Twins schedule, I originally assumed today’s game against the Cardinals was a spring training match.

Zeke has been cleared for all activity. He can hike and do zoomies now!

This is my dog, Zeke. He’s getting X-rays today for a 12-week check after knee surgery. We’re hoping to get clearance for zoomies. He wants to zoom.

That means we should probably start using new words.
“News reporting guidelines and standards” instead of “editorial guidelines.”

A member of Congress questioning the head of NPR shouldn’t make this mistake, but it illustrates a problem journalists have when we talk about journalism: Many people outside the industry don’t understand our words, which makes it hard to explain what we do.

I’ve needed something fun to read lately. I just finished a few trades of Wilson’s Ms. Marvel, and now I’ve just started vol. 4 of Lumberjanes. It’s been a bit since I read the start of the series, but I liked that and a return to camp should be fun. #WeReadsComics

MTMH is full of cool ideas and I found myself really getting into the prose parts. But I didn’t like the comic sections very much. When combined with the design choices that made reading MTMH difficult, I didn’t enjoy my time with this book.

I found this book physically hard to read. I normally read before bed, and my eyes had trouble following the busy pages and frequent footnotes in the low light. I had to find daylight time to read this, which slowed me down a lot.

Just the best thing I’ve seen in some time. Q and the dogs are an inspiration.

Also, my dog, Zeke, has had several health problems the past year. He’s improving a lot, and seeing Pepe running at nearly 12 is a boost to my confidence in Zeke’s ability to bounce back and be my day hiking buddy again.
