One of the funner moments from my South Africa trip occurred when these two little borbs decided to chase each other on the edge a lagoon.

A four panel comic called Happy Halloween From The Birds. In panel 1, a pileated woodpecker has pecked its huge gaping rectangular holes in a pumpkin. In panel 2, a yellow-bellied sapsucker has pecked a face using its standard rows of small holes. In panel 3, a satin bowerbird has carved a pumpkin into a bower and placed its favorite blue candies all around it. In panel 4, a loggerhead shrike has impaled mini pumpkins on a fence's metal spikes and is saying "fight me."

A harlequin beetle with its elytra open and its wings coming out. There is a tiny pseudoscorpion riding on the back of the beetle's abdomen.

I regularly see them when I sift leaf litter, but I've only observed phoresis once. There was one riding on the back of this harlequin beetle.

Do you think it is advisable to continue straight into a masters program now and wait for things to calm down? I finish my undergrad in the spring.

Glad to know it isn't just me who sees the incredible uncertainty. I don't know if knowing my professors not knowing makes me feel better, but at least I am not going crazy.
