Allied health providers supporting people with disability are crashing out since the #NDIS pricing review was published last week.
What many are forgetting is these recommendations have not yet been confirmed - until the new price guide drops, we donโt know what will happen.
#auspol
NDIS is NDISโing again and I canโt bring myself to engage with it. I have no more anger I can summon for something I know I should be outraged by.
12.06.2025 09:33 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I swear Mexican food is the best cuisine - how can you be sad or stressy depressy when thereโs Tacos, Burritos, Guacamoleโฆ or the mother of all that is good in the world, Queso?!
You canโt.
Itโs happy food.
Haha, at least your cat was thoughtful enough to try and compensate you for it ๐๐

08.06.2025 01:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Im lucky I donโt catch many bugs - but when I do, thatโs me out for the count, for weeks, sometimes months.
Iโm lucky I have some support to help me through - but many donโt have family or friends to help, or formal services and access to funding for help when they need it.

Before COVID, I didnโt know I was Autistic, or going blind, or had POTs and Diabetes.
Disability doesnโt come with a nice pamphlet on what to do when you catch a mild bug, or when something upsets your homeostasis. Mostly, you have to wing it and hope it works.

Iโm coming through the other side of it now, after WEEKS of being bed bound.
It flattened me.
I couldnโt prepare food for myself, most days I couldnโt do more than go to the bathroom.
The fatigue has been extreme, and brain fog.
Mentally, experiencing this has been more than difficult.
Nothing prepared me for how debilitating a mild cold could be.
A mild cold isnโt mild, when it sets off flares for other conditions and stops your normal medications from working normally.
It takes weeks to recover and return to a semblance of functioning.

1/ I could be wrong - maybe itโs just a bad day - but it certainly seems like millennials are being royally screwed, no matter how high their education or type of work we do - it seems increasingly the only people who have a fair go are those who can draw on generational wealth.
03.06.2025 09:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0thereโs something Iโm wondering if other people in my generation (millennial) are rumbling with, and if so what conclusions youโve come to:
when will we have a fair crack of anything, and long term stability? How do you build a life without generational wealth?

My bones are itchy.
The day Iโm having.
Itchy bones.

Itโs time to migrate office spaces. Iโm not vibing with the room Iโve been working out of for the last 18 months - itโs small, thereโs only one power point and the lighting for my broken eyes is less than ideal.
So Iโm moving back to my original home office space, where itโs far comfier!

26.05.2025 03:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 01/ Reflection is crucial in our roles, it helps us be better at our job - and self care is equally important.
Do what you need to do to process the stressors from this week: journal it, talk with a peer supervisor or therapist, exercise orโฆ have a big olโ snotty cry sesh (my personal favourite).
If youโre a Support Coordinator or Recovery Coach and this week has sent you over the edge, itโs ok to take a beat to process and feel the feels.
Itโs ok to be worried and scared right now, and frustrated.
Take a beat, reflect, then plan your next steps.

2/ Im also glad tried and true wisdom (and science) works, even when I donโt want it to - that moving my body does in fact, help keep the Big Sad at bay, and helps me process and release stress.
Much to my annoyance, it dang well works a treat.
1/ Iโm thankful I now live in a community where the council makes the effort to ensure parks, shops, roads etc are reasonably accessible - wide, well maintained paths mean I donโt have to expend as much energy worrying about slips, trips and falls when I just need to unwind and empty my mind.

I was absolutely in the Sad Place yesterday, after new changes by NDIS were abruptly implemented.
Soโฆ my Support Worker took me for a good long walk - we covered a bit over a kilometre.
This is a BIG distance for me, when there are days when I canโt make a cuppa.
#POTs #disability
Winter for me and other POTs humans is wonderful.
We go from being prisoners in our homes during summer being barely able to get out of our beds, to the best functioning weโre likely to have all year - while freezing out butts off.

Foodies, I need your collective wisdom.
I know nothing about wine, but there are so many recipes that call for it.
How do I know Iโve got the right wine, when a recipe just says red or white?
How do I know if I have the right one?
Sincerely,
Confused.

A glorious morning out enjoying the sunshine and fresh, briny air of Port Melbourne today with my Support Worker.
Possibly the best H&M Croissant of my life so far ๐ฅฐ
Any other #adhd humans experience a big change in mood while taking adhd medication - or feel like you lost your โsparkโ?
Can anyone shed some light on this experience? Itโs quite the rollercoaster!
Sure thing! Iโll be in touch.
