My favorite is Horse Feathers but Animal Crackers is pure and uncut genius. The bridge game is one of my favorite Marx scenes and I do find myself occasionally ending a conversation with “and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, it’s tastes much more like prunes than rhubarb does.”

(Don’t get me wrong- one of my favorite movies and always happy to see it celebrated)

I saw the opera based on the movie in LA years ago. Production design was outstanding. And I think it’s actually a cool source for a contemporary opera. But my lord what an unredeemable turd it was.
