It's not so much I'm not happy about it. It's just hard to trust a person that told you you were wrong for years when you were putting what seemed obvious in front of them over and over. It took a man getting murdered and recorded from multiple angles to get through to them.

The main thing I have had hammered home by the past ten years in politics is that we really need pretty much every government office to be run by boring and anonymous nerds who you will never once hear about in the news

sorry, but if person A is being a good person and helping their community because it's the right, human thing to do, while person B is being a good person because of the threat of eternal punishment in hell, I'm inclined to trust the person with developed personal morals not tied to religion
