Bad news: It was a royal PITA to figure out where the in-cavity lightbulb was supposed to go, we blew a fuse (and thought we’d blown a $20 lightbulb), AND we discovered that the cover for the space where the lightbulb goes has broken flanges where it’s supposed to screw in.

Good news: We replaced both lightbulbs in our over-stove microwave (which is also supposedly a convection oven? But I have no instruction manual or shelves that supposedly go with it?)

We have reached the point in summer where I’m yelling “fuck you, dude!” At mosquitoes.

I feel like it’s hard to have discussions on AI because very reasonable positions are being treated like they’re saying “all AI bad, good AI impossible.”

But we cannot have a reasonable discussion of AI without talking about who is making it and how.

The idea that pro-trans movements led to anti-trans sentiment is egregiously out of touch with reality. Increased LGBTQ representation led to historic shifts in public opinion toward the community. The aggressively bigoted and violent campaigns that lied about trans people are clearly responsible

I truly thought I had!

Today’s storytime recipient: my hair stylist. We spend literal HOURS together every few months, and somehow it never came up.

Sometimes I find out that someone I have known for years has never heard about the time I found a dead guy in our backyard because I mention it casually and they’re like “Excuse me, WHAT??”

I just hate that every few years massive peaceful protests break out and without fail the protesters start getting beaten gassed and shot while every media outlet and politician from both sides of the isle say shit like "oh peaceful protests are fine but THIS ONE just went too far".

Pre-wedding for friends, not pre-wedding for me. That would be a silly thing to forget, but I wouldn’t put it past me.

Ahahahahaha of course I didn’t check the date and have a pre-wedding celebration two hours away that evening. LUCKILY my partner in crime and I figured out a way to make both things happen still. Yay!

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

I'm just having a really negative reaction to people's reactions to Musk's claim that Trump is in the Epstein files.

My reaction is: In 2016, one of his victims openly sued Trump and Epstein jointly claiming she was raped at the age of 13.
