Remember, we learned in 2021 that a win by the out party in a Virginia gubernatorial election fully nullifies any presidential mandate. I don’t make the rules

Republicans need to stop talking about bathrooms and junior high volleyball teams and start focusing on issues people actually care about

I have once again been vindicated in my opinion that only people who live in big cities should be allowed to vote

Looking forward to learning all about how the right should move left to win elections tomorrow. They should maybe dye their hair pink, learn to love pronouns.

"If Republicans want a return to political influence in America's dynamic economic and cultural powerhouses, they're going to have to learn how to appeal to the complex folkways of urban dwellers"

The Republicans really need to concentrate on rebuilding their brand with young women.

I’m told that the results of a single election reflect a perfect, unchanging, and inescapable spirit of the Volk, so I will expect us all to start respecting the American people’s desire for Woke Maximalism.

It's probably the best they can do. Also, sample *size* is not really the problem; it's whether the sample is *representative* that determines how good the data is.

A post from my Mastodon account is shown, and it reads: "If a poor person defrauds the British government out of £1 million in benefits, that poor person is a hero, whereas if a rich person defrauds the British government out of £1 million in taxes, that rich person deserves to go to prison. I don't make the rules."

Counterpoint: nobody cares. Nobody cares about the idle, vacuous moralising of people like you. Your thoughts about "giving things out for free" are completely worthless.

Living through austerity was one thing when there was at least hope in the opposition. It's so much more dire now. I'll never forgive labour.

no, I think it’s incredibly good actually that Bluesky gives people opt-in tools that allow them to use social media *without* constantly getting into stupid fights with strangers.

This is not a debate club. This is not an official government forum. This is not the United Nations. This is not even a college class. This is a social media website that I use to amuse myself and to talk to interesting people. And I find it much more amusing when I can block whoever I want.

I’ve been extremely online since I was 8, and that experience has led me to pretty strongly believe that being able to choose not to engage socially with people in public settings - which includes the Internet - for ANY REASON is a fundamental human right

I believe that Donald Trump and MAGA is in fact a key result of what happens when anyone left of Adolf Hitler falls for the admonishment to Respectfully Listen to the Differing Opinions of Others. (Curious how one-sided this always is).

I believe that we are in fact perfectly free and morally justified to block people who AREN’T hatemongers, racists, or even bad people simply because we find them annoying.

I don’t hang out socially with people who merely irritate me OFF the internet. Why would I behave differently on Bluesky?

My views on this are contingent on the timeframe: I understand why countries want to join Nato now, but it’s very hard indeed to believe that post-Soviet Russia policy was good and smart, as evidenced by it being a horrific disaster where decades of strategy had to be torn up overnight in 2022.

03.11.2025 11:32 — 👍 123    🔁 25    💬 17    📌 4

Like, whether you think Nato expansion was good and smart or not, it is surely not up for debate that it was a central part of a policy that has now put Europe on the brink of all-out war with Russia, quite possibly without American support, and I see nobody at all asking whether that was clever.

I've contrived to remain ignorant of what "extracurricular activities" could refer to here, and I'm lowkey afraid to ask.

The "consensus" in 2010 was that our economy was on the verge of collapse, we were at the mercy of "bond vigilantes", & it would be crazy to borrow money at 0 interest rates. Instead the "consensus" was that we needed austerity.

That "consensus" was wrong & no-one has been held accountable.
