I'm glad you got the older device working for you at least
ohhh so we are the same type of nerd. I knew I liked you for a reason

07.02.2026 23:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0it's a mess but I got used to it pretty quickly. I have a low tolerance for most ux friction but I can handle the wonky appearance until they fix it all. especially since the guy responsible for it left and has been replaced by someone supposedly very good
07.02.2026 23:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0no, I don't think the alt-right has anything to do with it. guns have been used as a metaphor for penises for literally centuries

07.02.2026 23:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you want to understand why so much of the Epstein coverage feels so weirdly icky and bad faith, this article gets at the main dynamic Iβm seeing.
The takeaway is that men use allegations of rape as a domination contest. Yelling βrapistβ doesnβt always translate into care for survivors.

I just can't un-see the handful of classmates I had over the years who wore transition lenses and how ridiculous it looked when they'd walk around with half-tinted eyeglasses indoors. maybe it was the frames?
Just one more if statement bro

end of an era
Heroku was a lot of things to a lot of people. It jump-started the careers of many very smart people. It pioneered a lot of cloud architecture that we now take for granted.
It hasnβt been relevant for a while now, but Herokuβs impact on the industry is undeniable.
haha love it
while I have you here: @mbrobergmoffitt.bsky.social wrote a cookbook! it's great, you should check it out

07.02.2026 02:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I do think Japanese people are aware of this phenomenon, a sort of Japan-specific Murphy's law. it explains why every depiction of Godzilla targets Tokyo first
07.02.2026 02:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0when I lived in Tokyo it felt like storms only ever happened on weekends and holidays. which of course were the days I worked the most as an eikaiwa instructor
07.02.2026 02:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0cooking has a bootstrapping problem for sure. shit gets way easier once you have the right tools and staples
07.02.2026 02:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I remember reading in a magazine a million years ago to bring a little bag of coffee beans with you when shopping for a fragrance. you sniff the coffee beans between each fragrance and supposedly it'll reset your sense of smell so you don't get nose-blind
haven't tested it tho
also also, we have a stack of these 6" prep bowls, which I learned about from the restaurant I worked at a decade ago. so ridiculously useful for every little thing: prep work, snacks, sauces, etc.
and they're super easy to shove in the dishwasher between glasses and bowls. last forever too
dishes did get a lot easier when I stopped having so much back pain, lightheadedness, and fatigue. plus after that, attempting to cook at all was no longer an impossibility

It was sure a lot easier to be a βpolymath geniusβ back when everything you needed to know was like music, a guess at chemistry, superstition, religion, and which plants will kill you if you eat them.
