I really like The Prestige, it's one of my favorites. I like Memento and Inception, but Insterstellar was just okay. Tenet was awful and Oppenheimer is a meh movie behind dubious stylistic and narrative choices.

The strategy of the right (which, btw, even some of the left here support), is to be "tough on crime" by sending all, cops and civilians alike, to the butcher's block, to "show results". It makes for a grotesque farse, which solves nothing, while deepening the divide between police and civilians.

Due to some of the discoveries, the far + center right passed legislation in congress last month to protect themselves from investigation (they would decide, by secret voting, IF they allowed investigations on them). People got righteously pissed and went to the streets, so they walked back on that.

The operation by the feds showed a way. Specially because it highlighted the reach of crime, by attacking money laundering: factions have gas stations, motels, even bakeries in high end neighborhoods. Not only that, but some connections to right wing politicians came up. And they showed their hand:

It's disheartening, it's grotesque, it's profoundly racist, it's aporophobic and it's applauded by a big part of the population (there's a phrase from them which is "a good criminal is a dead criminal"), which explains the absurd 1st reaction of msm media and why this keeps happening.

This morning, it reached 120 and now the discourse is changing. It's revolting. Everything about today is horrific.
