One huge benefit to being a small independent artist is being able drop a new album,and still have the luxury of tweaking final mixes and doing a mastering revision, long after the release date. And not worrying that anyone could even notice.

Which is to say, it's never too late for a first listen!

I'm going digital on that one, but still unpurchased. I haven't even touched Bananza yet.

For that matter, I have yet to start Prime 3 Corruption.

Tomorrow will also see the release of my new album, Under Score XP. Twenty-three tracks of instrumental themes & accompaniment originally composed for a variety of diverse projects, runtime just over an hour long.

I've been lucky these past months, getting the opportunity to compose various music styles for the @gamesack.net EGM documentary Pixels to Pages, coming Wednesday—I contributed 42 minutes of original tunes!

When I think about one day needing to replace my computer, the laptop running all my production software and basically nothing else, I depress myself envisioning that it may have to be some omni-AI "talk to it like a companion" computer. I can't NOT see only OBSTACLES to composing music. 😑

Cultivating the growth of young minds is not an insignificant project, but I hope you can find space and time for creative ventures soon enough!

In a very real sense, reaction culture IS the internet, so whether embraced or written-off, you can't quite avoid dabbling in it. Grains of salt for everyone!

I think I've subconsciously assumed this over the years as it's more often that I first hear of something from the reporting of the controversy, backlash, and/or "canceling" phase of it, never the initial story itself. The contrarian in me learned to disregard "reaction culture" as a news source. 😅

I'd imagine that making art is often our first therapist! In developmental phases where we're so vulnerable, looking for the questions to ask, let alone being satisfied with answers. And to bring back the bit about AI—how effective can art-as-therapy even be if it's more shortcuts than reflection?!

I recognize you're referring to conversation with a younger self in terms of as an audience member, where a work or artist may land differently depending on when or where you are in your own life. I think there's a lot of honesty & appreciation available to us when we're mindful of all these sides.

Having conversation with one's younger self—that reminds me how I once revisited & finished an album after an 8-year hiatus. It was an effort to resume the momentum behind decisions I'd worked through, and how to continue in the spirit of original intentions versus new maturity, wisdom, and insight.

I've always written from a cerebral and introspective voice, but some of my 25-years-ago stuff is … naïve?, selfish?, entitled? I've wrestled with rewriting versus abandoning, but sometimes I'm glad I DON'T have an audience, so I avoid defending or disavowing THAT person. I'm not sure I like him.

So it's our duty as artists to share our process & intention, with equitable attention to how it's received. The less visceral or intimate the creation of a piece, for instance something prompted & generated rather than thought through & toiled over, the less robust & reciprocal the conversation.

My art and music have never grown to the point where I've been lucky enough to have such a conversation or a relationship with an audience. But I'm equally opposed to generative AI because there's so much essential value in knowing MYSELF, my own perspectives & reasons, through the creation process.

Sometimes one person's void is another's safe space to poke their head out and make a bid to find a semblance of human connection. Group chats can definitely have a delicate nuanced protocol, which isn't quite conducive to pondering & "unpacking" much of the time. I miss forums; but also I don't. 🤷‍♂️

Haha, yeah, it's like maybe I wouldn't keep forgetting IF you didn't make me come up with a whole new one each time I have a temporary memory lapse. Like, how about a hint AT LEAST!

I think there was one site/service that asked for a "hint phrase" with the password when signing up. Bring that back!

One man's life is worth so much more than a retrospective Blue Sky "tweet". But I want to say something. More details coming on Saturday by those who were closest to this situation. I will absolutely miss you @thegamechasers and you won't be forgotten!
