I just collect old stuff. It's not hoarding if it's functional, right? (previously @compgeke on birdapp)

Yes I took one meaning to turn it on and see what it does in the morning and never made my way around to it

Or here we go, let's replace a fire panel. Except, no, the devices used on a Faraday are 8700 series and not FP or FD series devices.

The migration path forward would be a Siemens FC922/924 with a FHA2056-R1 migration kit.

CPX-551 is an old CLIP-only device, it wouldn't support Flashcan. The correct migration path forward for replacing a detector would be an FSP-951 IV which has the support for the older protocol.

Two issues here:
1.) The MS-UD5/10 specifically have a Faraday sync option in the programming that does work.
2.) Siemens doesn't have addressable notification, especially not on something as old as XLS (now called Modular).

Hi I'm working class and AI is majorly incorrect for my field. Generative AI can't pull proper electrical code references at all. It just makes up stuff that sounds right (which is its entire purpose). It doesn't even understand company buyouts.

I'd be stupid to use it, not the other way around.

Not necessarily just plate covers, but you also see paint stripped plates, plates with the hyper-reflective spray and plates just shoved into the car windows instead of mounted on the car. Anything to get around ALPR.

We have a bunch of defaced/obstructed plates out here in CA, largely to get around bridge tolls. But a fine for an obstructed plate is $196 and a 20-day bridge crossing is $160/mo. Financially, if you can pull it off, it almost makes sense if you feel like dealing with cops here and there.

My TF536 in my A2000 quit working on a trip (probably fractured solder somewhere).

So of course I went ahead and swapped it for a truly vintage GVP 33 MHz '030. This thing's so retro it's got an 8-bit IDE port.

The beauty here is being the first SS, it’s just an appearance package. 6 cylinder and a 2 speed automatic. But it got a floor shifter so you’re cool.
