Delap makes five. If theyโre going to include players we might have asked an agent about, we could chuck David and a dozen other players in, but then almost every other club would be the same.

10.08.2025 14:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not sure of the source for this, but doesnโt sound like Howe - if anything, heโs picked players despite the criticism and not in fear of it. Also, we all saw how unfit and rusty Wilson was
10.08.2025 12:43 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Heโs desperate to get out of NUFC for the same reason Suarez was pushing to join Arsenal. It doesnโt have to be any more or less complicated than that. I donโt think a journalist writing a critical piece 12 months after he first went in a huff has any real bearing, does it?
10.08.2025 11:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0He hasnโt threatened to take us to CAS yet, has he?

Hasnโt gone unnoticed that two of our other summer signings came from Nottingham and Malaga, of courseโฆ

Donโt know how good Malick Thiaw will turn out to be, but I very much approve of us signing a player born in Dรผsseldorf. โYou know what this means, donโt you? Iโm half bloody German now, man!โ
09.08.2025 18:53 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Only a matter of time before we see the first player presentation where Romano is on the pitch like Salt Bae at that World Cup final.
09.08.2025 16:53 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs so he can be that bit closer to your sparkling wit, isnโt it? I doubt a pre-season friendly defeat is the clincher for most players, though you never knowโฆ
09.08.2025 16:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0With some, definitely. Think we also fell into a couple of traps laid by agents to flush out interest elsewhere. But thatโs why nowadays you need a savvy DoF, not recruitment people pushed forward at the last minute. Mind, weโre all only speculatingโฆ
09.08.2025 15:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Might suggest some argument behind the scenes he lost about who to sell and buy (just guesswork, of course). Wasnโt the year to go into a window with a skeleton staff, was it? Not the fault of those who had to step up but itโs a tough market unless youโre very sure footed.
09.08.2025 14:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah, you do think if we wanted to be dynamic and get business done quickly then this was a deal we could have made in June or early July. Usually Iโd applaud ambition but weโve all seen how the summer has played out. Still canโt believe Mitchell was allowed to just walk like thatโฆ
09.08.2025 14:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Or maybe people are underestimating PIFโs willingness to listen to those - like Howe perhaps - who do have football logic. Iโm not sure he leaves this window but if a deal made financial sense Iโm not sure theyโd be quite so implacable.
09.08.2025 14:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโm sure they didnโt but there does come a point when youโd sell a player acting like he has if you can find replacements and a buying club is willing to offer what you want. Weโve got neitherโฆyet.
09.08.2025 14:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Just glad it looks like weโve got a RCB at last - Scalvini would have been an amazing buy but couldnโt have done a full season trusting Fabโs legs or Lascellesโ recovery.
09.08.2025 13:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Some truth in this (other targets) but not 100% sure weโd ever have got him for the same price as Como agreed. Think theyโd have tried to squeeze an extra โฌ10 mill or so out of any rich PL club.
09.08.2025 13:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0More twists to come, Iโm sure. Looking back, seems he threw his toys out in March and they were expecting the club to simply sign a replacement and let him go. Top players have a lot of power but not even they can always expect to dictate things so easily. Contracts there to protect both sides.
09.08.2025 11:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If right, the latest Luke Edwards articleโs a very high-risk approach. โStop acting like a child and do your jobโ is a message more players need to hear - thereโs still a way out where he quits sulking and leaves next summer (the Suarez way) but not sure thereโll be any bridges left intact on Sep 1.
09.08.2025 10:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My wifeโs currently experiencing the joys of UK immigration policy as - with a Spanish residency permit, a ticket to the Maldives and a 90-min gate-to-gate transfer at Heathrow T5 - various officials try to work out whether she does or doesnโt need a visa (she doesnโt, butโฆ). Go for growth, eh?
09.08.2025 10:30 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโd have had him in exactly that roleโฆ2-3 years ago. It must be a wind-up but it would give the Ian Rush flourish to this window.
09.08.2025 09:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just googled that and this came up. Bet his grandad didnโt wear one down the pit either!
09.08.2025 09:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Haha! Weโre all blind - I guess in a few months weโll get an โinside storyโ of what happened with Isak that will reveal a bit more. Only thing for sure is he seems determined to push it all the way to September 1st (and beyond?) if we donโt sell.
09.08.2025 07:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is the source for the first part. Donโt think he was ever coming here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/650...
09.08.2025 07:13 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0After he signed, I read Liverpool had been in touch with Ekitike for a couple of months so it wasnโt the sudden move it was first reported as (sell us Isak or weโll take him). Also, very likely influenced by Jota and also Diaz pushing for a move - is Ekitike his replacement if they sign Isak?
09.08.2025 07:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Shame to see him shred his reputation so thoroughly. Iโm sure he has his version of events but thereโs no excuse for doing so much to wreck the clubโs summer after, in retrospect, clearly acting like an arse for at least one third of last season.
08.08.2025 22:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Isak way past Kane and on to Luis Suarez 2013 (the summer of the ยฃ40,000,001 bid) levels of strop. Donโt really care at this point what he thinks he deserved or where he ends up - just use the money to get 2 or 3 forwards with the right attitude who can learn and be bothered to run a bit up top.
08.08.2025 21:55 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt think heโd be on that much - he came from Villarreal for ยฃ30 mill and hasnโt signed a new deal since then. 100k a week absolute max, Iโd imagine (though itโs Chelsea, soโฆ)
08.08.2025 21:48 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It is a strange editorial choice to use the words โliterally left at the airportโ in the intro tweet, then spend two paragraphs at the start talking about the story, and only then at the end say โItโs not true but it could have beenโ. Then complain that some people have misunderstood you.
08.08.2025 19:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Think youโll find, if you go back to your Targett source, that Longstaff was only sold for pennies because he nicked off on holiday for a month with his brother during the season.
08.08.2025 10:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Baggio or prime Weah, though Basile Boli always sticks in my mind too.
07.08.2025 22:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Only because there might be a bit less of this constant transfer chatter from the likes of Romano.
