We’ve got an angel baby creature, double daddy issues, a willing bride, a Frankenstein who’s rotten to the core and craving mother’s milk, William aged up so he’s moved from innocent to obstacle. More Frankenzeitgeist than Frankenstein in theme.

Anyway, very capable film. Gorgeous to look at. Fine.

Now that Frankenstein is out on Netflix I can dig in on my opinion that it’s predictable and a bit paint by numbers.

So- while this movie deviates from the book, it’s the most straightforward adaptation of contemporary Frankenstein *fandom* imaginable.

The tech sector making it okay to wear jeans to work for traditional white collar jobs is probably the only truly great thing they have produced in the last 10 years.
