It's a bitterly cold, windy day here in the Northwoods of WI. From my kitchen window I can see goldfinches just chowing down on the seedheads of my anise hyssop, in spite of the 3 feeders just yards away. This is one of the many reasons we grow natives and leave them uncut for the winter. Love it!

I love the self-seeders! This spring I found columbine in my hummingbird/butterfly garden, on the other side of the yard from where they normally grow. Such a nice surprise!
