OMG, you're right - the video game came in 2010 (and Slott was writing the story together with Mark Hoffmeier and Daniel Strange) while Spider-Verse came out in 2014.

I read an article from Screen Rant, that Slott took inspiration from that story arc. Even John Semper Jr. (the producer and head writer of S-M TAS) made a statement about that back then.

Could it be possible that Slott though that OMD was some sort of a "reboot" and that was his ticket to "redfine" was Spider-Man is about? It's sounds crazy, since the Editorial's explanation for Mephisto's deal was "everything between 1987 and 2007 happened, except Peter and MJ never got married".

I think that villian was the only worth memorable thing in Slott's 10year run. Let's face it: -Spider-Verse was heavily inspired from that one story arc from the '94 animated series
- Superior Spider-Man was just "Spider-Man who wasn't Peter Parker" and instead of a loser, we got a creep pervy prick

Yeah, I don't really get that whole "I like specific aspects of Spider-Man, while not giving a damn about everything else". Fine, they can have their preferences, but that doesn't really give them the right to declare that this has to be "the standard" just because they said so ...

Remembering the fervor around Dan Slott during the heyday of his run, I remember a lot of the press around him continually saying "You can tell he's a huge Spider-Man fan and he's having the time of his life."

Yet over half a decade from his last ASM run, no one seems to talk about him.

We're talking about an office and Editorial, who are behaving in such an *obsessive* way towards maintaining this ridiculous "Spider-Man to remain forever young, single and a perpetual underdog loveable loser" concept, that they would rather ruin the character, than to admit that they were wrong.

This is some serious "fanboying" right there, for them to ignore how factually close F4 is to Superman ...

(the same energy and though process as when the "make up" between Peter and Shay at the end of "8 Deaths ...") or that the getting back will be permanent, without some "skock-valued cheap drama" to come out of nowhere, breaking them up again, for the upteenth time.

I'm sceptical towards this thought because given how *3 years thus far* they've been doing nothing but indirectly mock, ignore and/or gaslight the relationship between Peter and MJ. Even *if* they actually bring them together, I don't expect them to either use enough focus and though behind it -

Also if this means (again, pointing out the resemblance) that MJ will be switched with Ben Riley as the new host foe Venom, although this would be way too sudden and change things for next year's crossover with ASM and Carnage.

Then we wait to see "the reason" behind the choice for the new look. Again, this resembles more Ben Riley or Spider-Carnage, if they go with "paying respects to Peter" - yes, Venom is *the Lethal Protector*, thus he has to be intimidating, but won't this bite Peter in the end?

We'll just have to wait and see if this cover is "just a homage variant one" or it is connected to the story in the end.

The design looks more like Ben Riley than Peter. Especially when this resembles Spider-Carnage.

At least it's better than releasing a "MJ Jackpot" action figure. By the way, this hasn't happened yet, right?

Yeah, this doesn't give me confidence that this will be good if Zdarsky happens to write a future ASM run - this is the same guy, who complimented Zeb Wells's run (a.k.a. "the worst recent ASM run") and calling fans toxic (or another similar adjective).
