Left-of-center voters today are more loyal to the democratic party than they have *ever* been in history, and the bloc of voters that ID as left-of-center is bigger than it was 20 years ago. If thats not enough, I have to wonder what, exactly, is the benchmark for success here!

Thats why this is a good line of argument to push! If you can make that the terrain we're fighting on, thats good! It captures the essence of the right wing position- "*They* are why you're poor and insecure"- and putting it in the context where we can most easily refute it and build our message.

A lot of the lessons of the Biden era are rendered unreliable at best by this fact. "The president cannot, or will not, do the essential work of politics- performance and communication" just fundamentally undercuts any strategy. And yes, the media environment mattered, but...

I'm begging senators to learn that when you say "both parties have done X" and republicans insist "democrats have done X, We're innocent" the takeaway is that the only thing democrats and Republicans can agree on is that democrats are bad and do bad things. This is bad for the democratic party.
