I make music and help others make the music they want to make. Composer, co-AD of New Amsterdam Records. None of us are free until all of us are free. He/him.

Oh my God

All I really want is for someone to make an album like this about me someday
16.02.2026 18:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Has there been a big-budget US movie set in Japan since 2000 that Hiroyuki Sanada has NOT been in

15.02.2026 16:33 β π 3770 π 614 π¬ 25 π 5Yeah I agree. I was really posing this question as a very open, difficult challenge.
15.02.2026 03:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thatβs well put.
14.02.2026 18:25 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agreed and I appreciate the discourse as well. Good opportunity for me to remember that being succinct is not as important as addressing the main likely points of contention, unless I want to spend all afternoon telling your followers how unclear I was.
14.02.2026 18:19 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It only does that if thereβs gatekeeping involved.
14.02.2026 18:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs only doing that if posed as a requirement for entry, rather than something for us to actively consider. I donβt think I was clear (tried to be succinct) on that point
14.02.2026 18:15 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm realizing my original response wasnβt clear - I was trying to agree with you that there should absolutely NOT be a barrier to entry and that this protestorβs type of statement should be celebrated - but also that we need to contend with the other side of this question. Thatβs a real challenge.
14.02.2026 18:13 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I agree that as a practical matter of collective Big Tent action, there of course should be no entrance exam and we can be shoulder to shoulder w/ people with whom we vastly disagree. Thatβs why I said itβs a (tough) question - how to achieve that AND not accept a post-Trump return to the status quo
14.02.2026 18:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Respectfully, because the status quo of relationship to state violence for millions of people in the USA was unacceptable before this year and the language of βthis is not who we areβ reenforces the idea that our collective goal is to return to that status quo and get on with our lives
14.02.2026 18:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0The "omnicause" of not having our violent, carceral state terrorize (predominantly Black and Brown) children?
The question I posed isn't about what to do when people come into the protest space, it's about how to have them carry a broader consciousness with them when they leave.
The question is how to celebrate and support the aspirational vision contained in the statement, as you say, but also get Lindenwold guy to understand that his government regularly terrorizes children and has for years, even if that terror has been invisible to him. And to become active against it.

14.02.2026 14:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sometimes I think βhey, what ever happened to <some actor>?β and then I look them up and their career has been thriving and I remember that Iβve seen like 10 non-kid movies in the last two years
14.02.2026 12:33 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of Californiaβor rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.
The Trump admin has given up its appeal of a powerful injunction:
