This is such a fascinating query.

An album called β€œThat’s What I Like About Phil Harris” with a picture of, presumably, Phil Harris

All I really want is for someone to make an album like this about me someday

Has there been a big-budget US movie set in Japan since 2000 that Hiroyuki Sanada has NOT been in

β€œMy buddy told me there were a lot of grubs here and I had to check it out and, honestly, he undersold if anything”

The deer though

Ok but what is happening in the middle of the log that is gathering their cross-species attention

Folks seem somehow even more racist/sexist/homophobic/etc than usual when they are doing stereotypes that I’ve never heard anywhere else. Like are you the source? Are you making these things up yourself?

Hadn’t seriously sight read at the piano since getting progressive lenses and boy I was NOT prepared for the cognitive chaos of that experience

Noticing more toxic political vibe here than before.

Time to dust off a classic

Yeah I agree. I was really posing this question as a very open, difficult challenge.

15.02.2026 03:07 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s well put.

Agreed and I appreciate the discourse as well. Good opportunity for me to remember that being succinct is not as important as addressing the main likely points of contention, unless I want to spend all afternoon telling your followers how unclear I was.

14.02.2026 18:19 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It only does that if there’s gatekeeping involved.

14.02.2026 18:18 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s only doing that if posed as a requirement for entry, rather than something for us to actively consider. I don’t think I was clear (tried to be succinct) on that point

14.02.2026 18:15 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m realizing my original response wasn’t clear - I was trying to agree with you that there should absolutely NOT be a barrier to entry and that this protestor’s type of statement should be celebrated - but also that we need to contend with the other side of this question. That’s a real challenge.

14.02.2026 18:13 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I agree that as a practical matter of collective Big Tent action, there of course should be no entrance exam and we can be shoulder to shoulder w/ people with whom we vastly disagree. That’s why I said it’s a (tough) question - how to achieve that AND not accept a post-Trump return to the status quo

14.02.2026 18:08 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Respectfully, because the status quo of relationship to state violence for millions of people in the USA was unacceptable before this year and the language of β€œthis is not who we are” reenforces the idea that our collective goal is to return to that status quo and get on with our lives

14.02.2026 18:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

The "omnicause" of not having our violent, carceral state terrorize (predominantly Black and Brown) children?

The question I posed isn't about what to do when people come into the protest space, it's about how to have them carry a broader consciousness with them when they leave.

14.02.2026 17:58 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 0

The question is how to celebrate and support the aspirational vision contained in the statement, as you say, but also get Lindenwold guy to understand that his government regularly terrorizes children and has for years, even if that terror has been invisible to him. And to become active against it.

Sometimes I think β€œhey, what ever happened to <some actor>?” and then I look them up and their career has been thriving and I remember that I’ve seen like 10 non-kid movies in the last two years

Trump administration drops appeal of court order blocking $1.2-billion UCLA settlement The Trump administration dropped its appeal of a major higher education case in which a federal judge blocked its $1.2-billion settlement proposal to UCLA over alleged civil rights violations. It will...

This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of Californiaβ€”or rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.

The Trump admin has given up its appeal of a powerful injunction:

I might start doing the IRL version of this, "someone who looks and talks like you is being a complete shithead in public, do you know anything about that?"

I agree with the consensus on "Home" being the most fucked up. "Hell Money" is underrated IMO. Amazing cast though!
