"Moderates" or "centrists" don't have fixed positions. So, you can't actually "meet them where they are" cause political discourse is constantly moving them. And if you keep trying - as Dems do - they will keep moving in the only direction they get pulled, to the right and eventually off the cliff.

And yet no pundit will come out and say "Republicans need to moderate on trans issues."
