Civil Rights, philosophy, anticapitalism, abolition. NLG forever. Personal opinions and no legal advice. I think taking fascism seriously requires us to actively change. What we’ve been doing led to this.

Moments like these remind you why we all agreed to strike the compromise where six lawyers can force people to give birth and create dictatorships. Sweet sweet rule of law
big part of my book is detailing how whole new generation of anti-fascists were radicalized since 2015 after brushes w/ fascists in their communities

KABAS: So many comparisons have made between the current state of US immigration terror and Nazi Germany in the 1930s, and I've seen some say that kind of seeks to absolve this country of its own history of racial terror and genocide. In the hearings this week with ICE and CBP and USCIS, you said you have “no respect for inheritors of the Klan hood and the slave patrol.” How did it feel to publicly and explicitly draw that connection? REP. RAMIREZ: I knew that I was going to make them very uncomfortable. I'm not talking about just the DHS directors there—I meant my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. And I say this often, ‘Courage is not the absence of fear. It’s the willingness to act despite the fear.’ I'm a little scared [in that moment], because if I'm being blunt with you, every time I speak there's a death threat. And yet I thought it was so important, as a daughter of immigrants, as a proud representative of Illinois-3, as someone who has been calling out what they do, to be able to look evil in the eye and call them what they are.
Delia Ramirez is a real one

but what if we just had politics that accurately described our situation and the system actively rendering the planet uninhabitable. Not “it’s bad but American democracy is beautiful dream we can dream!” But just “it’s bad and we we have to stop them from building camps and burning the world down”

If there is a path to liberation by way of duly center-izing all analysis, then we’re in good hands I guess
“Wealth inequality” has done a service to the 99% but at a certain point it becomes reactionary to talk about this structurally fundamental feature of a world ruled by capitalists without just saying capitalism. I just think we can retire it. Unequal protection of the law and unequal wealth

The opposite of all this would be running society in a way that we all get to be alive and enjoy our lives, as opposed to running it like a concentration camp for the benefit of white supremacist billionaires.
There’s the cruelty of this regime and then the cruelty of every prison, jail, detention center in Blue and Red states and cities across the country. The cruelty of this particular regime and the cruelty of the turnkey mass death machine assembled over decades, waiting for them.

They were wrong about the GWOT, wrong about Gaza, wrong about USAID. Being nonchalant about killing lots of people is essentially a prerequisite to be a member of Congress. It’s why it does Matter Who
Conventional Demcoratic party wisdom was that this did not matter, or to the extent it did, the courts can sort it out. Axelrod and the jagoff who would be king went on record that they wouldn’t die on this hill. 9.4 other million will, though.

1. ICE is still out there and abducting people today. We can’t trust the occupation is over until we actually see it.
2. People are going to be in an economic crisis for a very long time.
NEW @ms.now: The lawyer representing the woman who was shot 5x by a Border Patrol agent in Chicago in Oct says the agent is the subject of a criminal investigation by the US Attorneys Office. This would be a remarkable shift in a case that started w/ the gov’t trying to prosecute the woman he shot ⬇️

This is torture. He will die without his anti-rejection medication. It is as simple as that.
Worth noting that any time a cop is accused of potentially criminal misconduct, it is usually BIA who conducts the investigation.
The police superintendent is acknowledging they lack trust to handle this case, but why then are they entrusted to conduct investigations into, say, domestic abuse?
