my project in a nutshell: White Christian Patriarchal men promoted parenting methods that created and nurtured emotionally immature boys/men for the last 5-6 decades and now it is everyone's problem.

all this is to say we don't address this by saying "the transphobes have a point" but rather "your concern about fairness in your kids' sports is valid"

Of course this is all taking placing at a time where transphobes have flooded the environment with their lies and thus been able to hijack the conversation, but it's rooted in the quite understandable desire of parents to protect their kids.

I think a very charitable reading of Mayor Pete's comments is that parents worrying other kids might have an unfair advantage in sports is legitimate, which is not to say it's based in reality. Transphobes are certainly exploiting this concern for their own ends, but that doesn't invalidate it
