Goodbye, White House. Hello, Trump House. - The American Prospect It turns out that the notion of American exceptionalism actually makes the country more vulnerable to an authoritarian takeover. But it’s not too late to stop Trump’s attempt to consolidate a dictator...

Consider how few anecdotes it took for the media to declare a Free Speech on Campus crisis.

Every day we get more evidence that the Republican Party is teeming with white supremacists yet elite institutions refuse to frame this as a crisis that needs the nation’s attention.

And this was what was so frustrating about last year, about watching Dems fight for a "strong border" and campaign with Cheneys, seeing the "shhhh, it's okay to vote Dem this time, Republican" ads, running the most centrist fucking campaign ever.

IT DOESN'T WORK. Because they don't fucking care!

Didn't 12 to 20 Democrats just vote to confirm more Trump appointed Judges to an already Republican stacked federal Judicial system in the middle of a government shutdown and an imperial invasion of Democratic favoring metropolitan areas?

As Minneapolis Votes, Some Struggle to Keep Police Violence in the Spotlight - Bolts Five years after George Floyd, the mayor and his allies on city council claim credit for vast improvements, but critics keep pressing the case for more discipline and police alternatives.

5 years after George Floyd's murder, Minneapolis police avoid accountability through "coaching." Supervisors simply talk to officers about complaints instead of formal investigations, even for serious misconduct.

Can some film nerd make a supercut of iconic scenes of the White House getting destroyed in movies, and then the last frames are obviously the east wing today?

Why am I pitching this instead of the Democrats putting out an ad, yesterday. This is so fucking easy to concept.

Most of us here on Bluesky don't live in Maine, so we really don't have a say in this race.

And no one but us political junkies are paying attention yet. There's no way to predict what happens in the many months between now and the primary.

Voters can have very short memories.

Welcome to the Take, Teen Vogue’s politics newsletter, where we’ll keep you up-to-date on the organizers, politicians, and agents of change trying to save our world — or at least shift things for the better. I’m politics editor Lex McMenamin, and starting today, I’ll be explaining how we’re seeing current events, and sharing our coverage.

On Saturday, an estimated 5 to 6 million people joined a No Kings rally in their area, likely becoming the largest recorded single-day action in the United States. But what does one day have to do with all the rest, if you're not sure how to sustain your resistance beyond an event? "Protest is a tactic; it is not a strategy on its own, and it should never be intended to stand on its own outside of a broader strategy," Indivisible’s Leah Greenberg, co-organizer of No Kings, told me the day before the rallies. So we’re sharing some key ways you can get involved in your community today, if you’re not sure where to start.

Til the weekend!

Exactly. Rich people are happy to pay for exclusive, high end possibilities, but incensed to pay for infrastructure and the common good.

Trump shits on America. Why doesn’t the media care? For many news orgs, Trump’s fascist coalition is uniquely legitimate.

I agree 100% with this post. The media's double standard on Trump makes us realize they aren't journalists at all. www.publicnotice.co/p/trump-poop...

Screenshot 1 (the activist’s original flyer / safety post):

⚠️ Heads up for Portland activists — Far-right livestreamers and agitators are coming into the city again this weekend.

Their goal is to provoke reactions and film content to post online.

They thrive on confrontation.

Do not engage. Do not argue. Do not take the bait.

If you see them, ignore them and alert others to stay back.

They’re not here to protest — they’re here to create content and chaos.
Keep each other safe. Stay calm, stay focused, and don’t give them what they want.

A trans activist who’s spent years tracking far-right streamers and content creators online made this flyer to warn activists in Portland. They’d seen the same names traveling city to city, showing up at protests to provoke chaos and film it for clicks. The message: “Do. Not. Take. The. Bait.” 🧵1/5

A Key Senate Candidate Opposes Eliminating The Flibuster The Maine governor and establishment pick to challenge GOP Sen. Susan Collins said she wants to keep the Senate's 60-vote requirement for most legislation.

Awkward! “EMILY’s List, which is backing Mills, pulled its support from Sinema in 2022 because of her opposition to filibuster reform ahead of Democratic efforts to pass voting rights legislation.”

Also, they didn’t post & delete it because they want it to be gone. They did it as a strategy—more people will search it up (using inflammatory terms next to Mamdani’s name so those searches to become “suggested”) & it leverages the pull of forbidden fruit (eg “they don’t want you to see this!”)

This is driving me crazy. The New York Times calling this madness an “anti-drug operation” is one of the worst forms of propaganda: accepting stated motivations of powerful people as the truth.
