I definitely think it's your parenthetical. So IMO the story is more another data point of our toxic money in politics system that overwhelmingly relies on a wealthy class who will protect their own at any cost and will only oust you if you betray the class.

For sure - just your highlighting of Politico got me thinking about their unique part in that ecosystem and the reality distortion field that gets created in DC by them specifically.

Makes folks believe they are in the know but it’s really just a comforting false reality to lobbyists and GR types.

It makes living and working in politics here a constant mindfuck because so many just take this stuff as gospel and act/advise on that false perception.

If you can see reality in DC, you’re basically Cassandra.

Interesting thing about Politico is that it doesn’t move general public opinion because public doesn’t read it.

But it does inform so many beltway actors who are distant enough from power to be able to ignore reality and incentivized to believe/hope Trump isn’t that abnormal.

I agree with @bencollins.bsky.social - I don't think the hype will ultimately manifest.

But I think that if it somehow does, I am of the more doomer school - the problem won't be that it takes lawyer jobs, the problem will be that it's too advanced to control.
