Stunning levels of cowardice from the Globe editorial board. Even the Liberal Zionists saw how “Israel bombing Gaza only helps Hamas” on October fucking 8th. Not a conflict. Not a war. This is genocide.

The formula for victory in war is straightforward: Do the thing that your enemy least wants you to do, and don't do the thing that your enemy would most want you to do. On that basis, Israel is failing, badly, in its 21-month war against Hamas in Gaza.
From the start, Hamas has used the civilian population of Gaza as both a shield and as a weapon.
The shield has been the intertwining of military and civilian infrastructure, with the direct effect of increasing civilian casualties as the Israeli military attacked Hamas. The weapon: images of dead and injured civilians deployed skillfully by Hamas to undermine Israel's legitimacy, and to paint the Jewish state as a brutal and brutalizing entity.
In recent months, heartbreaking images of hungry children have added to the power of Hamas' weapon.

@theglobeandmail.com just published one of the most disgusting takes on Israel’s genocide in Gaza I’ve ever read. They are either too stupid or too craven to see that Israel wants these children to starve since—BY THE GLOBE’S OWN ACCOUNT—they are weapons of war.

Every time I watch an Adam Curtis documentary, I’m blown away but also deeply…horribly depressed.

The idea that the left needs someone to keep them in check… Isn’t that the thing the left is mocked for? That they keep themselves is check too much?

Every time someone says “Gaza must be freed from Hamas” just say “Israel is currently freeing Gaza from Hamas. This is what it looks like. This is what you want.”

Why? Why this guy? The guy who said “we should call ourselves Nazis because it’ll be our own version of the n word.” Why him?

A whole point of pride Israel has is how they’re this smol bean country “surrounded by enemies” that refuses to be intimidated, so it’s always strange to me how they expect Palestinians to submit to them— because they’re a small country they have surrounded and occupied.

Well now that everyone’s a “creative entrepreneur” things tend to get mashed together

The issue is the shift didn’t come from “offending” people but adjusting to an objective algorithm. The decision to censor is now a “business” decision as opposed to one of free expression.

Personally, I think some people equate fitness (self care) with conservative values, but they also can’t seem to shake the “jock vs nerd” dichotomy, which honestly kind of pathetic.

Neil Strauss’s memoir of being in the PUA community literally starts with his sui**de intervention, so he might actually be a good example of how hollow that community is.

Starting to realize the irony of so much of the response to the “leftist male dating advice” article is progressives preaching the virtue of personal responsibility. They’re also right! The problem is framing it as a “the left needs to reach men” issue, which is such a red herring.

01.08.2025 17:59 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

I mean, reading the article, they’re not really saying it’s the responsibility of “women” as much as it is “other men.” He’s not blaming women. If anything, he’s explaining how PUA is the quick answer to something that takes a long time, which is maturity.

01.08.2025 17:55 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

I mean… if you read it that’s literally the point of the article. Dunt is not kidding when he says he’s phrased his point badly.

01.08.2025 17:48 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I kinda feel bad for the guy because he even admits it’s badly phrased, but yeah. It pretty much covers all the bases and addresses the problems with PUA advice accurately.

I feel like this is a semantic issue but yeah, we can’t do “The leftist dating advice podcast,” it doesn’t really work that way.

01.08.2025 17:31 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

If you have good male role models who can explain to you why so much of their advice is bullshit, then it’ll (hopefully) inoculate you against it, but good male role models aren’t “telling you how to be a man” they’re just people that are comfortable in their own skin and help you feel the same way.

The article isn’t that bad, but it does lean in to “Joe Rogan of left” territory. We don’t need “the Progressive Man’s Guide to Crushing Pussy,” you just need to explain that PUAs see women as objects they can manipulate because think they think *the same thing about the people who listen to them.*

01.08.2025 17:27 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

idk, took me like 3-4 years to realize that I wasn’t a total joke and didn’t have to listen to that advice, but that was because I had supportive men in my life (mostly my step dad).

01.08.2025 17:22 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Yeah not surprised people are dunking on this because this is a remarkably awkward way to phrase this, but as someone who fell for the trap set by PUA guys when I was 18-22, I appreciate the sentiment, but the idea of addressing “getting laid” specifically feels like falling for the trap again.

01.08.2025 17:19 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

As someone who fell for the PUA bullshit when I was 18-22, I really do get both sides of this, but the focus should be about how hollow the vast majority of PUA advice is because they’re just grifters who see people (both men and women) as tools to get what they want.
