Let me be clear: the far right are not welcome in Bristol. They don’t represent us, or what we stand for

But I also want to be clear about what’s driving this wave of unrest...

It’s not only bigotry from a small minority of people.

It’s the politicians who for years made life harder for ordinary people. Standing by as the NHS struggles, our schools crumble, the cost of living goes sky high.

Instead of taking responsibility, they’ve pointed the finger of blame at migrants

It’s not just charlatans like Farage, deliberately spreading misinformation to inflame tensions

It’s Starmer’s “island of strangers” speech. Theresa May’s “go home” vans

It’s every politician who has taken up “stop the boats” as a campaign slogan

This is where it’s led us. And it has to end here.
