DE anticipates the player being a dumbass far more than BG3 did. It would have been interesting to have failed perception or wisdom checks lead to dumbass dialogue options or extremely bad takes, but perhaps the sheer scale of the game counted against it there.

There's only one failed check in DE that demands an immediate reload. (If you know, you know.)

DE also had at least one unwinnable roll, just to emphasise that failure was an expected part of the game.
