Maybe I was inarticulate, I don’t have any Democratic representation at the national level, but I would like some. Newsom is bad for the party brand, making it harder for me to get representation. Gavin Newsom obviously wants to represent everyone as President. So he matters everywhere.

Is it that strange though? California is a huge, important part of the US. Decisions made in California affect us all. Look at automotive pollution standards. You know who AOC and Bernie are and I’m sure and have an idea of what they are like even from across the continent.

High level Democratic members represent the party as a whole to people. When they act like shitheads the stink sticks to the whole party and that affects down race ballots all over the country. They aren’t representing me, but they make it harder for me to get representation that will listen to me.

As a liberal stuck in a purple state it’s *very* hard to deal with people like Newsome and previously Feinstein. When you don’t have a voice that will listen to you, one of them saying it’s ok for congresspeople to insider trade is SUPER dispiriting. They basically *are* the Democratic Party.

Could have invested this money turning some of it into affordable housing to help with the shortage, but no.

It feels like people on all sides want to cling to the idea that people are more politically and economically motivated by concreter things when in reality it’s all just vibes. Especially in aggregate. *Especially* at a time like this when there is such a stark difference in sides.

Absolutely agree. I never understood the desire to change the computer UI to be the same as a phones. People interact with them in totally different ways. It’s like going from typewriters to writing everything longhand. Total regression.
