Private analysts able to spot military planes in flight from open-source satellite data, not real time but very soon after capture. And yes I'm sure detection of those signature R-G-B ghosts (which measure speed and direction) can be automated.

Rubio promised to betray U.S. informants to get Trump’s El Salvador prison deal To secure U.S. access to President Nayib Bukele’s notorious CECOT prison, Rubio agreed to turn over several MS-13 leaders central to a long-running Justice Department investigation.

“It was also a key step in hindering an ongoing U.S. investigation into his government’s relationship with MS-13” big update in this story 🎁 wapo.st/4nbNiM4

U.S. to Repatriate Survivors of Its Strike on Suspected Drug Vessel

“The men who survived were being returned to their home countries, Colombia and Ecuador.”

One day, they’re dangerous “narco-terrorists” who require summary execution. The next day, they get sent home because Trump doesn’t want to hold a legal hot potato. Trump’s entire drug war is bullshit.

Also any journalist who unironically quotes Trump’s musings about how the obstacle to peace is the deep mutual hatred between Pu and Zelensky should be ashamed of themselves. The fact that Trump occasionally says something so inane doesn’t mean you have to amplify it!

People keep saying this but if welcoming the indicted war criminal Pu instead of arresting him lifts Orban’s campaign up instead of putting it in the gutter, Hungarian society is deeply rotten. Let’s hope Hungarians meet the historical moment this time and punish Orban for this humiliation.

Image of a woman leaning against a wall, with a man leaning over her closely. She's apparently got one of those extremely pointy 1950s bras.

Fake title: leave me alone, or: I WILL STAB YOU WITH MY BOOBS

Unmodified Boston Herald blurb: Brutal! Shocking! Piercingly honest!

It's a day early, but posting my #FakeBookTitleFriday now before I forget to! For once, the blurb for the book was perfect as is and didn't need to be changed.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

This is a remarkable coup by UHZ - but does not reflect success of state investment in higher education (which is going down in CH). Rather, it is the model that made U.S. academia so successful: massive private funding. Bizarrely, it is money from a Brazilian foundation. 🤯

Joseph Barranco posted on social media: Go Bears! Nobel Prize in Physics goes to 3 physicists studying mesoscopic quantum phenomena... Work was done in the 1980s in UC Berkeley Professor John Clarke's lab with his graduate student John Martinis and postdoctoral fellow Michel Devoret... all 3 share the Nobel Prize. Must also point out that both Clarke and Devoret are immigrants from the UK and France, respectively. All 3 are pioneers in the race to build the most powerful quantum supercomputers. California *public* education made this happen. Immigration made this happen.

Valuable info about the Physics Nobel Prize today from Prof. Joseph Barranco at SFSU on Martinis and Devoret being a grad student and postdoc in Clarke's lab at UC Berkeley & Clark and Devoret being immigrants. "California *public* education made this happen. Immigration made this happen." ⚛️

And here we go. I never wrote this article, and yet it is cited here.

And of course, it sounds so plausible, I seriously checked whether I had forgotten it, or the footnote was slightly wrong.
