Hmmm... That was my best I guess. I agree the color is pretty perfect, so hopefully it turns out to be something useful!

Halloween Collection 2025 - Skull Yarn & Thread Cutter This little guy might be all bones, but he packs a serious bite for yarn ends and lengths of thread. Look close (if you dare!) and you'll see his eye and nose holes are actually little balls of yarn! ...

The overall shape has me stumped, but is there a small blade inside the cutout for cutting yarn? Like this: katrinkles.com/products/hal...

A swath of in-progress knitting, still on the needles and swirled into an A-shape, lying on a worn wooden table. The knitted fabric is a deep, rich burgundy with tweedy pops of lighter red, pink, and green, and the surface of the fabric is twisted into a complex cable texture.

It is Fleece Artist Merino Slim, in the color way Forillon Qc! I actually liked this one better in the skein than how it is knitting up, but it is growing on me...

A hand holding up a long tubular piece on knitting. The knitting work in progress, which is going to be a hat, is striped in grey, tan, and burgundy and is over a foot long. The person holding the knitting has a tattoo of a tiger fairy kitten holding a ball of purple yarn. In the background is a concrete cemetery wall and a large gnarled tree with a canopy of green leaves

Taking lunch in my car and knitting while parked outside a cemetery seems super appropriate for September. The Musselburgh hat seems never ending - this is only half a hat - but that was kind of the point, a project that is super easy to pick up and put down and will keep me busy for a while. ๐Ÿงถ

Four hand knit socks at various stages of progress on a wooden floor with their associated balls of unknit wool. A Stillwater sock that is not well matched to the patterned yarn, a Breton striped that Iโ€™m vaguely unenthusiastic about, a Trompe le Monde sock that I think looks sloppy, and a random decoy sock that has a backstoryโ€ฆ

A close up of the button bands of a hand spun, hand knitted sweater. Three of the brown mother-of-pearl buttons are sewn on, and the fourth is in progress with a golden needle and purple thread sticking out of one of the button holes. The sweater is various muted shades of purple, blue, gray, green, and orange in a textured color work pattern. Lying on top of the sweater are a white card with purple and pink embroidery floss wound onto it, and a pair of gold and silver folding scissors.

I made my first niddy noddy out of PVC pipe, it's fairly inexpensive and accessible! Or, if you have a friend or library with a 3D printer, there are several free print files out there that work quite well.

A knitting work-in-progress in front of a concrete block fire pit. The piece of knitting, which is actually the second sleeve of a sweater, is made of handspun yarn in various shades of purple, green, and tiny bits of orangey brown, and is being held up by a person's hand near the needles. A few flames and wisps of smoke are curling up from the fire pit, and further in the background is the setting sun peeking through out-of-focus pine trees.

Our camping trip was..not ideal (dog got injured at the sitters, car broke down two states away from home, and it was so cold and rainy that we left a day early), but we're having a nice do-over with hot dogs, s'mores and knitting by the fire pit in our own backyard. #knitting #handspinning ๐Ÿงถ

You will get it! It takes a while to build up the muscle memory, but some day it just clicks. I was spinning for a few years before starting this sweater project, and even then it took me a few more years to finish all the yarn!

A white woman with dark hair taking a selfie in a mirror while wearing an unfinished sweater. The sweater, which is knit out of self striping hand spun yarn, is knit in a simple textured color work pattern. The body of the sweater is complete, the right sleeve is nearly complete, and the left sleeve is still missing. The yarn shifts through many colors, including gray, brown, blue, purple, and green, all in muted dark shades. The woman is holding two balls of yarn in front of her body in her left hand, and her face is hidden behind her phone, which has a purple phone case.

My handspun sweater is trucking along! I have a hard deadline to finish because I preemptively entered it in the Big E, and entry drop off is on 9/2. That's cutting it a bit close for me, but I have grand knitting plans for my upcoming vacation week. #spinning #handspinning #knitting ๐Ÿงถ

A handknit baby sweater on a wooden table. The sweater has an all over bobble texture and is knit in a soft pastel sea-green color. The table under it is actually an ancient telephone wire reel, and the wood and metal are pleasantly worn and rustic.

I went to bed with the best intentions to work hard and get everything off my desk before vacation, but of course now that I'm here I'm totally checked out... Anyway, less work, more yarn. Here's a cute Louise Pullover Kids from Northside Knits in Knit Picks Heatherly that I made for a coworker. ๐Ÿงถ

Saw someone upbraiding someone else for having a hobby while the world is on fire, and, my friends:

1. The world is ever on fire, this is today's conflagration;

2. If you don't find time for rest and joy the fire will consume you;

3. Don't let people shame you for being an entire human.

I needed a break from socks so I started a Musselburgh hat by @ysoldaknits.bsky.social for my new travel project. Perfect for knitting on the deck until it got too dark to see! ๐Ÿงถ

Swatching for gauge (Trump method).

1. Knit swatch 4 inches square.
2. Claim swatch is 6 inches square.
3. Do not block swatch. Blocking is woke.
4. Measure gauge.
5. If gauge is off, smash ruler.
6. Claim ruler was made by Biden.
7. Gauge is now correct.
8. Continue to not release Epstein files.

A pair of hand spun, hand knit socks laid out on a faded blue deck railing above a blooming hydrangea. The socks have short, rolled cuffs and a traditional heel flap. The yarn is blended shades of bright blue, brown, sea green, red-purple and dark blue, and is spun to create a striped or color blocked effect. The striping on the two socks does not match. The hydrangeas are in full bloom in pink, white, and pale green.

I fell off the #tourdefleece wagon so hard. My travel project for my work trip was no good - short staple wool that I wanted to spin thin for socks does not go with a heavy spindle - and I was swamped with homework when I got back. Still, I finished my handspun socks on the plane! #knitting ๐Ÿงถ

Ohhh I kind of want another espinner! What have you tried? I have an EEW Nano 1.0 with an upgraded motor, and it's fun and inexpensive, but feels like more of a toy to me. It does make yarn, although it only spins well at very thin weights and the bobbins don't hold much. Also finicky!

Nope, no actual spinning yesterday, but I'm not calling it a rest day because I dyed just over 3 pounds of fiber... Now the garage smells like vinegar and wet dog!

A metal strainer, sitting in a metal sink, full of brightly colored wool. The wool has not been processed besides scouring and dyeing, and is still mostly clumped in wavy locks. It has been dyed shades of turquoise, ocean green, lavender, and lilac.

A hand holding two bobbins of blueish yarn above a spinning wheel that holds a third bobbin of the same yarn. The spinning wheel, an old-style single treadle Schacht Matchless, is a warm honey colored wood, but the 3D printed bobbins are an incongruous shade of metallic silver with bright red gears on the end. The yarn is roughly DK to worsted weight singles in turquoise blue with hints of purple and gray. The person holding the two bobbins has a tattoo of a tiger kitten holding a ball of yarn on their arm.

Days 7 and 8 of #tourdefleece! I finished spinning the last of my dyed Romney last night, and decided to dye some more today. I took no measurements or notes for any of this - pure vibe dyeing! Not sure yet if any actual spinning will take place today... #handspinning #handdyeing ๐Ÿงถ
