I know modern front load washers are more efficient and kinder to your clothes, but old fashioned top loaders really excelled at felting!

4. Measure gauge.
5. If gauge is off, smash ruler.
6. Claim ruler was made by Biden.

I fell off the #tourdefleece wagon so hard. My travel project for my work trip was no good - short staple wool that I wanted to spin thin for socks does not go with a heavy spindle - and I was swamped with homework when I got back. Still, I finished my handspun socks on the plane! #knitting 🧶

Ohhh I kind of want another espinner! What have you tried? I have an EEW Nano 1.0 with an upgraded motor, and it's fun and inexpensive, but feels like more of a toy to me. It does make yarn, although it only spins well at very thin weights and the bobbins don't hold much. Also finicky!

Interesting, how often do you take it apart to clean it? I have only had my WW since December and it isn't giving me problems, but I would rather do maintenance before it does if necessary.

Days 3-6 of #tourdefleece! Work and homework are seriously interfering with my spinning schedule, but I managed to finish another bobbin and start my travel project. I'm also now half way through Dungeon Crawler Carl 4, which I coincidentally started on day 1 of the tour. #handspinning 🧶

If you're lucky, somebody might have modeled it for 3d printing and released the files. I have a Schacht wheel and found the WW bobbin file on thingiverse, so my husband printed 10 of them for me. They work just as well as the bobbin that came with the WW!

I have to say, I love my Woolee Winder. Not having to stop at all to change flyer hooks or position increases my productivity so much! But don't forget the cost of individual bobbins, it might be a lot more expensive depending on how many bobbins you like to have...

Day 2 of #tourdefleece! I only spun for a half hour, and that might be it because it is unpleasantly hot and humid and I have homework due today. Still, I finished this bobbin of singles and weighed my remaining fiber. I'll do a bit more carding later to be ready for tomorrow. #handspinning 🧶

Day one complete! The 3 batts I prepared ahead of time spun up in about 2 hours, which is much faster than I expected, and nearly filled 1 bobbin. I carded two more bats and probably have enough dyed wool for 8-10 more. Now to decide if I should dye the other 2 pounds or spin it as is...

I absolutely panicked and thought I had missed TDF Day 1! And then remembered I did actually spin some yarn today...but then went to the comments only to be relieved all over again that yep, it's next weekend! Maybe you can squeeze an extra project in by finishing this spin before the tour!

Practicing core spinning onto fairy lights! USB lights are much brighter than battery lights, and while I'm very pleased I can plug them into a timer and not worry about batteries, the brightness overpowers the color of the fiber a bit. #handspinning #handspunyarn #artyarn 🧶

It is a 3 ply yarn consisting of 2 singles spun S, one single spun Z, and all 3 plied together Z. It has a lot of elasticity and is supposed to wear better than a traditional 3 ply - time will tell on that front!

The sock has a short rolled cuff, and shifts in color from blue/red marls at the ankle to turquoise to ocean green to brown to purple back to bright blue again at the toe. The only thing left to do is weave in the tail that dangles off the toe... And knit another sock, of course.

It's a Romney fleece! I have been spinning for many years but this is my first time doing this many steps of fiber processing myself.

Every year for the last... wow, 11 years I think? I am planning to spin my first whole fleece. It's washed and partially carded, so the only prep I have left is asking my husband to print a few more bobbins.

I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

In the workshop, we made jewelry by wrapping it around heavier gauge copper wire, but Emily also showed ideas including sculpture, baskets, and even knitting or crocheting. The wire can snap if bent repeatedly, and it's hard on the hands, but otherwise you can use it for all sorts of things!
