Just allowing more housing to be built would raise tax revenues without making housing more expensive or making taxes more regressive. Itβs crazy that this alternative is never even discussed.

29.10.2025 01:35 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I love how they spent all of that money to rebuild those ramps in the same bad locations that are not aligned with the bike path as they were in before, presumably to avoid having to move any catch basins.
03.09.2025 00:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Same! We use it pretty much exclusively for fun and holidays.
05.08.2025 22:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As rents continue to rise across the country, they're falling by ~12% to 16% in Jersey City. Why? The city spent 2019 to 2024 on an absolute building tear. Building more housing works. jerseydigs.com/jersey-city-...
18.06.2025 17:17 β π 174 π 38 π¬ 2 π 5Half-measures like bus lanes full of parked cars or bike lanes that don't feel safe and are not part of a connected network don't end up being used by anyone and just end up pissing everyone off and making the streets feel lawless.
10.04.2025 17:24 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Respectfully, madam mayor, this is an area that requires leadership, not pandering to the loudest voices in the room. Everyone wants less traffic and safer roads. It's up to you to decide how we're going to get there then do it *right*.
10.04.2025 17:22 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 090% of voters would not even believe that this is controversial.
(So just fucking do it already!!!)
So just to recap the current policy...
Protesters: Masks to conceal identity not allowed

I think this is actually the story of how a LOT of our current crop of GOP "leaders" rose to power...

Um, ok. Weβre not talking about charity *or* wealth redistribution here. Just whether or not towns should be granted the authority to block certain kinds of housing.
17.02.2025 01:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But also, those kids are already alive and they are going to live somewhere. Is it really acceptable to allow towns to skirt their responsibility to educate by limiting housing production? Who should pick up the slack, exactly?
16.02.2025 23:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Okay yes but given a particular school district, which housing type do you think is more likely to attract families?
16.02.2025 23:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Quick question: Which kind of housing do you think is more likely to attract households with children: Detached single family homes or apartment buildings?
16.02.2025 21:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Awful: Internal USAID memo instructs employees to refrain from talking to the media about cuts in assistance to the most vulnerable or they may get fired, WaPo reports.
Trumpworld knows this is a big political problem for them. Keep the focus on it.

14.01.2025 14:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Okay so I know I often have my differences with our mayor but I still think this is pretty exciting. Congrats @mayorwu.boston.gov!
14.01.2025 14:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In the transit-poor neighborhoods, where you actually need a car to get around, you donβt need to tell developers to build parking. They will build it anyway.
11.01.2025 03:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think you might be a little confused about where this is happening though. Right now developers build tons of spaces that sit empty in transit rich neighborhoods because we make them. People without cars (who tend to be poorer) end up paying for those empty spaces.
11.01.2025 03:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The whole diesel heaters thing really confirms for me that, at least for the MBTA, BEBs are mostly about scoring points with the legislature rather than a genuine commitment to lower carbon emissions.
27.12.2024 15:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cities will be all like "its snowing, please don't drive if you can avoid it, it's dangerous to drive in the snow," and then do shit like this to make driving the only real choice to get around.
26.12.2024 13:10 β π 275 π 61 π¬ 4 π 3Apparently diesel engines being left to idle all night because they wonβt start in the cold do not count.
