Currently in Chicago and I just can’t get over the way they’ve catered to the car. This underground roadway business is insane, for example.

The amount of managed dissatisfaction we deal with is nuts.

All these flowline issues on curb cut projects drive me pretty nuts. It’s just the standard and not the exception to see ponding. I gotta think it’s lousy contractor work and a non-existent post construction inspection. Both budget driven I suppose.

I’m pretty sure the 5.5 is for when you accidentally use a 4.5 on a 5mm bolt, strip it, and have to hammer it on to extract. They’re a package deal of destruction.

There’s a decent chance this is an inlet clog, but also I’ve seen some things in this city both from design and construction quality that let’s me know that anything is possible.

Requiring so much land to build such an efficient land use type feels like an oxymoron to me. Zoning codes are just awful, mostly.

What kills me is that they say improved safety is somehow a part of this lane addition.

I think trikes are a sneaky good option. I got my wife one because her balance isn’t great and of course I tried it out and had to get one myself. A bit bulkier and there’s the tip factor, but man, they are really fun and easy to ride.

This development caught my eye big time when we were figuring out our move to the Indy area. A bike path outside my front door?? Didn’t end up in Carmel but this design is pretty darn cool.

Made a V1.1 with a bit more drama on the NE end. More costly but showcases the idea of ending that 6 way better perhaps.

Do this accordingly throughout and 6 way intersections become 4 way, just as god intended.

Had a thought today for Mass Ave. In general, the angled streets drive me crazy, mainly for intersections. Since pedestrianizing isn’t a realistic option, why don’t we treat Mass Ave as a parking corridor and deter throughput while retaining vehicular access and stalls?

Trim the fat, preserve the grid.

I think I’m going to start doing some improvement sketches for incidents and overall problematic areas. Might be a good visualization tool or conversation starter. If nothing else, good for my sanity.
