Ha ha, very good! I always say "Golf course!" when I see a golf course. I can be accused of lacking imagination...

I suspect that game might get a little tedious if you live in Blackpool, though!

Well I'd definitely look! Not even heard of that bird before!

I had a long running thing on 'The Other Place' which was: things you point at and say out loud when you see them.

For example: Heron. Or: Windmill.

So: what do you point at and say out loud when you see them?

Wow. Like the early days of Twitter. I’m still friends with people I meet on a Tweetup 15 years ago!

Word of the day: Sinecure. It means a job that provides little or no value but pays well.

I wonder if you could think of any examples... 😁

Tip: always open the end without the best before writing on it. Then you can recreate that joyous feeling every time you open a packet of pills!

Yesterday something unpleasant happened. I woke up with it racing around my mind. Today has been about reminding myself what matters.

Being happy takes work.

There is a Buddhist saying that β€˜Overthinking is suffering twice for something that has not happened once…’ Our mind creates storms and then we fear the rain. Please remember that our thoughts and fears - though understandable - are just passing clouds. May your day be peaceful, my friends. 😊

There can’t be too many things to do that are more joyful than sitting in the conservatory with my lovely wife, rain gently pattering on the roof, drinking tea and listening to records. This marvellous album by Cherry Ghost is the latest on the turntable. #SundayMorningMusic

Closer To You by JJ Cale

Closer To You by JJ Cale

When I was a student (long time ago now!) JJ Cale was my go-to #SundayMorningMusic. This is a late period album, but sounds just as great as his earlier stuff. All down to his meticulous engineering of his own material

That’s cool. That’s initiative. No such thing as a new idea, just improving on old ones.

Did Peter Mandelson do something wrong? I seem to recall seeing something last week, but all the headlines since have been about Kier Starmer’s leadership πŸ™„

The solution is one new, all encompassing law: don’t be a dick. Anyone who is being a dick can be arrested and tried. Whether they are guilty of being a dick will be up to the presiding judge. So if you’re tempted to be a dick, then you’re taking your chances as to what the judge you get thinks.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβ€”because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
