It’s always so hard to say goodbye to the kids I work with when it’s time for me to move on …

Lunch at daycare. Kids are counting genders of everyone at the table. “No, Teacher Cayley isn’t a girl, she’s a BOY-girl.” An argument ensues. “She’s a girl!” Kid turns to me. “You’re a boy-girl because you talk like a boy.” No idea what they mean by that but I’m here for the non-binary validation ✌️

Was told today that my style is reminiscent of Joyce Byers from “Stranger Things”. Winona Ryder as my celebrity doppelgänger? Yes please!

I don’t care much about celebrities, but I’ve always been a fan of films with Moretz in them. Being engaged myself, it’s nice to see how other queer women writ femme are dressing for the big day. (As if I could ever afford custom Louis Vuitton, but one can dream.) 💍🥂

What does it mean that children constantly ask if I’m pregnant because I have a curvy tummy? Especially in summer clothes. I am not preggers; this stomach is how real bodies look. What are they internalizing that an unremarkable, unfiltered stomach that isn’t perfectly flat equates with pregnancy?

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Pleased to share a report on flexible child care published by the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC (CCCABC). I had the privilege of conducting qualitative research on this project. Flexible, non-standard hours of care could help solve the childcare crisis.

Going through my personal library, clearing out books that don’t hold up. Shocked how many previous “faves” are rife with misogyny. Disappointing how normalized objectification of women’s bodies is in these stories, slipping past my radar a decade ago, when I thought these were fresh takes. Yuck.
