Cause organizing is hard. You have to direct lots of people to do what you want. ICE was set up to do what they want on immigration. But election enforcement is another matter.

Had plenty of opportunities to do something so far this year and it hasn’t worked. All the flips are rep to dem. Dems won both Governor elections in states Trump had made progress in. It’s a lot of work to organize something like that and no evidence they’re doing the work.

Ohio State and Miami had the same number of straight offensive drives ending in touchdowns. Miami had one long field goal. Ohio State missed their’s. The defensive touchdown, which meant Ohio State didn’t have at least another short field goal try, was the key difference. What are you arguing?

That’s why I bring this guy up. He wasn’t aligned with the left or any of those things. And I think he represents a lot more voters. Many people just wake up every day with their job, friends family and don’t get engaged with much else. Biden needed a bigger margin in Philly than he got.

Not enough voters showed up though. You can dispel it all you want but this was Philly in October 2024 and after that trip I was really worried Trump was going to win and he did. Some of it was the lies and information environment but this guy reminded me most average people just don’t see it.

I’m not saying it is but you can look at how many Biden voters didn’t vote for Harris and ask why they didn’t. Many of those voters were working class and lower engagement. My discussion with this guy showed me what that kind of perspective looks like. He didn’t see anything concrete that mattered.

The right wing authoritarianism is not related to economic anxiety it’s true. But the disaffection amongst potentially persuadable dem voters is somewhat related to performance. I had a Black service worked in Philly say to me before the election it just didn’t matter who won. He’d still be stuck.
