Probably not, because everything else on that graph apart from Generative AI is useful

The thing is, 'working class' is devastatingly simple when you strip away all the media bullshit:

If you sell your labour for a value that's less than the value of the goods or services you produce and / or you have no control over the means of producing those goods, then you're working class.

I would say though (although it isn't explicitly stated here) that the difference in language used to describe bank deposits as opposed to government bonds is bizarre, when they essentially amount to the same thing: an amount of money placed with an institution which must be repaid with interest.

As Jonathan Lieu put it, patriotism today is standing with far right football hooligans from a foreign country against a local police force in your own country.

I guess it depends whether those dollars are primarily sat in the bank accounts of Joe public or sat in the (offshore) accounts of billionaires.

It happens all the time.

A mate of mine got done for chucking a bottle at a copper after the Manchester derby. When the judge tried to impose a banning order on him, he said "I'm CofE mate, you can't touch me". QED

Ed Milliband has said that no-one should be stopped from going to a football match because of their religion.

Fair enough Ed. What about if they've rioted and shouted racist abuse at two matches in the last month? Should they still be allowed to attend a football match because of their religion?

Two thousand Millwall fans smashing up Kenilworth road and running the police off the pitch wielding broken seats, all on live TV was "less than well mannered"

Jenricks comments about football are laughable. I went to the match regularly in the 80's and the level of violence was off the scale and often exacerbated by the police

Add to that the racism at some grounds and the deathtrap stadiums that literally killed fans (Hillsborough, Heysel, Bradford).

Just to be clear, it's a ban on far right hooligans who attacked taxis, spouted racist slogans burned Palestine flags & then got a deserved kicking after the game in Amsterdam. Oh & they have a long history of racist abuse including of their own players & political violence

Cry me a fucking river.

Maccabi are noted, even amongst Israeli ultras, for their violence and racism, to the extent that they have racially abused their clubs own African and Arab players.

They turned up in Amsterdam, chanted racist slogans, burned Palestine flags and attacked taxis. It was even reported by the Mail FFS

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans are notorious for their racism, abuse of their own Arab players and violence. They turned up in Amsterdam, attacked taxis, burned Palestine flag and changed racist slogans. Then after the match they got a hiding.

Cardiff and Swansea were banned from taking away fans to the South Wales derby for more than 10 years so the racist crybaby hooligans can go and do one.

Fact is the only time that Starmer was interested in pushing a second referendum was in 2019, when the public were sick to the back teeth of the whole Brexit saga.

Happily for him, it completely scuppered Jeremy Corbyn, which I'm sure was just a coincidence.

Id say the principal mass market use of AI is to generate stories about how great AI is, in order to relieve gullible fools of their money.

15.10.2025 06:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

All money is essentially valueless, but what the $ ยฃ โ‚ฌ ยฅ do have is the backing of very wealthy governments. The value may go up or down but it will never be worthless.

Crypto has the backing of no-one and can barely be used as a means of exchange. It is the Tulip bulb of the 21st century.

Very true. And a lot of companies are already very disappointed at the returns on their investment in generative AI, per MIT

Thanks. So what's the implication here; that the massive amount of Saudi investment in the US in recent years is weakening the value of US gilts?

10.10.2025 13:06 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Why would the dollar decrease in value if Saudi invested a large amount of money in the US?

Much like Trump, Machado took part in the 2002 coup attempt to overthrow Hugo Chavez (who had won a landslide victory in the 2000 election) and replace him with a military junta, signing the notorious Carmona Declaration in the process. But he it's Venezuela and he was an evil Commie so no-one cares

So it turns out that the Nobel Peace Prize committee saw fit to give the award to a person that played an active part in an attempt to overthrow a democratically elected government. It wasn't Trump though....

Id also add that if this money were paid on behalf of "Britain", this would insult the vast majority of people in this country whose ancestors had no connection to the slave trade, but who lived in poverty and were worked to illness and death by the self same ruling class that perpetuated slavery.
