San Francisco and other cities, following a Supreme Court ruling, are arresting more homeless people for living on the streets More than one year after the Supreme Court’s Grants Pass v. Johnson ruling, a geographer who researches homelessness finds that the ruling is leading to more places criminalizing homelessness.

Arresting homeless people for sleeping in public spaces doesn't reduce homelessness, according to a professor who studies the issue. It often leads to worse health and makes it harder to find stable housing. buff.ly/aHuwSNG By @sprzybylinski.bsky.social @michiganstateu.bsky.social

there's no doubt the toll lanes will both decrease operating expenses (faster travel time) and increase revenue (higher ridership), but the service may be long dead by the time they open

Notably, if the Southeast Corridor (84X/86X), 87X, and 89X were to discontinue service, RTA would no longer be eligible to use the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds to operate services along these corridors in the future.

Notably, if the Southeast Corridor (84X/86X), 87X, and 89X were to discontinue service, RTA would no longer be eligible to use the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds to operate services along these corridors in the future.

the two routes on the corridor are grandfathered into using CMAQ funds at an 80/20 split

so if the service ever stops, it would lose that grandfathering and would instantly require 5x the operating costs if they tried to restart it, not to mention having to completely rebuild ridership from scratch

Estimated RTA Partner Reserve Depletion Dates showing that all Route 84X/86X partners are using reserves at a rate that is not sustainable.

it's going to be interesting to see what happens on that I24 corridor

the five partner jurisdictions that fund that service have not been willing to fully fund it for the last few years, and 4/5 partners are on track to deplete their reserves by FY27, before the toll lanes even start construction

got a surprise on the way to work today, bus #182, the oldest one in the fleet (acquired in 2009) and the only NABI model remaining in WeGo’s fleet

some distinct features of this bus include the front single door, more longitudinal seating, and push to open rear doors

i’m just very curious about #5 it is soooo specific!

like hon, just pick up the phone and call the company that’s doing this! you don’t have to pass county wide regulations!

When you are writing your letters of support to bza@nashville.gov, note that the parking lot in question is rarely used anyway, as a lot of folks who visit the building either cannot afford to own a car, or choose to bike/walk/bus there. Should have no discernible impact on neighbors.

β€œdo we live in a progressive city?” is a complex question, but β€œour zoning code forces affordable housing developers to ask permission to build less surface parking in front of a bus stop to save a historic sanctuary” is certainly clarifying. we should fix that, I think

there’s a nice incremental hardening of this bike lane near the Edgemeade inbound station (Shermay Tacos) done as part of the 1 Mile Pkwy bike lanes (i think maybe a condition of development)

axed a right turn lane and made it a bike lane with plastic sticks to connect a gap with no bike lane

04.08.2025 17:57 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

i would say the latter, it’s much easier to fill in an existing buffered bike lane with rubber and plastic than to take space to make a new one

in the short term, it gives a little bit of protection to the many people who are already using bikes on the corridor
