Part of ancient Britain was a woman’s world, ancient burials reveal 2000-year-old graves suggest women wielded as muchβ€”and sometimes moreβ€”power than men in some Celtic tribes

No you don't understand this is literally SO exciting 🀩

This research suggests that wealth and lands were passed down the female line, and instead of women leaving to join their new husband's family, the exact opposite was true.

A large sub-rectangular stone slab carved with representations of human feet with toes splayed. Also a series of circular depressions. All of the carvings picked out in red paint.

When is a tomb not a tomb? When the farmer was allowed to plough it away....this slab was once part of a stone-lined chamber (cist) covered by a round barrow at Pool Farm, W. Harptree, Somerset. #TombTuesday - Read more about the slab here: www.bbc.co.uk/bristol/cont...

Now that I'm on here, I can start shouting about all the exciting things I've been up to! Like the Archaeological Ephemera project at the Petrie Museum - looking at the bits and bobs left behind by early archaeologists and museum workers, the stories they can tell us, and what to do with them.

A simply extraordinary Iron Age staircase, preserved within the wall thickness of the ruinous #Broch tower at Dun Carloway, Isle of Lewis, in the Outer #Hebrides.

The sophisticated pre-Roman architecture here blew me away when I saw it this June - a real bucket-list moment
