6-8 hours prep for each hour of class time sounds about right for a new course. If a fellow prof who's recently taught the course makes their materials available, then in my experience it's closer to; if not, then 8.

MIT, Caltech, Wash U, Chicago, etc. beg to differ. The Ivies too, though perhaps to a lesser degree. Other operational models do exist.

This is a continuing issue with journalists (or "journalists", which is what we mostly have) in general, identifiable every single time they write about any topic about which the reader has personal expertise.

What news networks remain honest, professional, and reliable? I ask in all seriousness because I'm looking for guidance. I don't expect perfection, just some reasonable level of quality.
