Fair, I suppose as someone who never really acknowledged the show it just never factored to me. I mostly knew people who complained about the show because it meant “normies” would ask them questions about things and it just created this awkward hostility. It’s a bizarre chicken/egg thing I feel

I blame the rise of influencer culture personally, mostly because I never watched the show and most of the people I remember encountering hated it anyway so it never seemed like a factor. It always just existed to me

I dunno, I think about a lot when people talk about “the golden age” of geek culture or whatever you’d call it. I liked a lot of stuff at that time but the toxic attitude and importance on being an over opinionated obsessive who can name drop things just never felt right to me.

We lived through a time in the late 2000’s early 2010’s where rampant encouragement to make liking a piece of media your whole personality and fan entitlement along with the way the internet encourages and rewards the worst kind of behavior.

I made peace with the fact Evangelion isn’t for me after trying to watch it at 3 different stages of my life.

I will say if it’s new characters though I’m willing to give it another go. I like the concept and designs a ton.

Oh I stopped trying to figure out how fandoms and pretty much people in general operate over the last few years, still begs the question of “what’s the endgame here?”
