Structural basis for agonist and heat activation of nociceptor TRPM3 - Nature Structural & Molecular Biology TRPM3 is an ion channel that helps the body sense heat and contributes to pain. The authors show that both heat and small chemical molecules switch it on through similar changes inside the protein.

The ability to sense heat protects the body from burns and injury. But how the body actually feels temperature has remained an elusive mystery.

I already missed a study section where I review grants two weeks ago due to the shutdown and the study section that was slated to review my grant that will decide if I get to keep my lab open or not ... was supposed to meet this week. Neither is happening and that is destructive to science.
