I think we should all be immediately suspicious of anyone who says Cypher is their favorite system. I won't explain why, but I know you feel it too.

I know it's always someone's First Day Online, but way more of us should understand you just don't need to respond or state your thoughts on some random bozos terrible take. They can think it or not, and we can all just carry on. No need to spend two days on shit we all already know to be true.

Sometimes, I can't help but think everything bad ever said about TTRPG nerds is true and that we did actually deserve whatever shit we've caught in the past. Sometimes (like now), I even think I agree with them.

If I read a TTRPG review and I don't come away knowing if the writer actually likes the game or not, that seems bad to me. I don't know though, maybe that's just me. Maybe I'm the only one who'd like to read "opinions" and "critiques."

Aw yes, we all loved joining our friends and loved ones this year to play a campaign of Douglas Adam's Roleplaying Hitchhiker's Guide to the Tabletop Galaxy: Babblefish Edition or whatever.

You can always count on the Ennies to drop like 5 nominations for some big crowdfund licensed game you've never heard of anyone even reading, let alone playing.

Can't imagine anything I'd like to be less than an Ennies judge. Give bad awards. Read a lot of bad TTRPG books. Be hated by swaths of cool people. No, no I don't think I'd like to be an Ennies judge (not that I was ever in the running).

Okay, let's talk about DTRPG. *832 skeets of meandering family and personal history only extremely tangentially related to anything and that only 1% of readers finish*

It's a shame we all have to discuss this #TTRPG nonsense online - rather than in person in some sort of remote prison island. If we could force the two biggest Discourse Havers at any one time into a pit and make them fight, the community would be better!

You think you can call yourself a game designer just because you designed a game? Think again!

Oh, you're designing mechanics and systems for a game? That's not game design. Doing something else entirely? That actually is game design. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

There are other ways to host videos and podcasts, but no one ever seems to expect any creators to make that change, despite the platforms that profit off of them being as evil as/more evil than Substack's leadership. They just do less interviews about it.

A lot of folks seem to hate anyone who uses Substack but never seem to mind folks hating their work on YouTube or Spotify, two of the most harmful tech entities in terms of the ongoing shared political and social psychosis we are all caught in the middle of. Feels weird!

When there's lore in a TTRPG book, you at least have some stories to remember later - rather than just spending all that time reading the rules for a game you'll never actually get to the table.

Look, I just wanted a cheap copy of Mausritter. I wasn't ready to face the moral and ethical considerations of funding foreign retalatory drone strikes.
