QuΓ©bec speaks French roughly how it was spoken three centuries ago at the royal court. The French distorted it since then, but we don’t give them shit for it 😊

If you want to stand up for marginalized populations, the first step β€” before any action β€” is: LISTEN.

Be aware that groups more vulnerable than your own have a better understanding of the risks they face than you do.

Don’t decide *for.*

Act *with.*

Yes. All the empirics on misinformation indicate that the way to defeat bad ideas is to mock and marginalize them. Constantly declaring "hey the far right isn't so bad" is a terrible strategy both morally and electorally.

Dems should be way more comfortable saying "look at these fucking psychos"

Resuming nuclear testing is a massive giveaway to China and Russia because we basically have the supercomputers to simulate them (look into why the DOE owns so many….) no and they don’t, so physical nuclear tests would give them a lot of data that they currently don’t have access to.

I cannot tell you enough how happy I am to have the RSV vaccine mean that I don't have to have every viral season include the "there's always one" baby who dies of RSV. It was a rule for a while. It's no longer the rule.

Bright side is that because of low circulating levels of viruses we had relatively low levels of viruses that usually cause death (RSV/flu) so where usually we'd have at least one death a year due to RSV/flu and more due to pertussis, in 2022 much as the kids were 4 viruses sick they didn't die.

The reason for the pediatric viral surge of 2022 is because a virus-naive population saw mask-dropping all at the same time. These are kids who missed 2-3 viral seasons. I had not seen a lot of kids admitted with triple or quadruple respiratory viruses but in 2022 that became the norm.

British Columbia Highway 99 - Wikipedia

The sea to sky highway, when it was still one lane in each direction, was sometimes referred to by BC Understanders as the 'scream and die' highway, due to the dangers of 1 lane traffic with curvy mountain roads and rapidly changing weather conditions. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British...

In Vancouver proper there were daffodils in the ditches, grass, and leafed out trees, and 45 minutes was all it took before you drove in to winter. The regular transition between the top of the mountain and sea level in late winter/early spring was magical.

Related/unrelated one of the most fun experiences of being there to do ski patrol for the 2010 Vancouver olympics was the experience of staying in the city of Vancouver with friends and then commuting up the sea to sky highway (widened for the event) to the site in Whistler.

Canada's Best-Kept Secret: Starlight Tours For decades, the Canadian public has overlooked Starlight Tours. Within Indigenous communities, this practice is all too familiar.

Canada has a term for removal of vulnerable people from the city where they are abandoned by cops to fend for themselves with no resources. They're called starlight tours. spheresofinfluence.ca/canadas-best...

why, that's a *steal* for the smart piss ball, and I can't wait to find out how much the monthly subscription for the piss-sniffing service costs, and it'll be so useful, and I won't mind the occasional leaking of data on my leaks until the inevitable shutdown day, when my piss ball is sadly bricked

The Mountain Understander spouse told me we were taking a snow shovel on our drive through the Rockies, the first time.
My prairie ass was like, but it's spring?
Spouse: we are going 2km above sea level, do you think the mountains care that it's spring?

The Coworkers were discussing this and there have honestly been years where we were laughing when flu shots showed up like "about time, we've been in viral season for a while!" We have all been saying the Summoning Words (RSV) while knocking on wood/our heads but team RSV vaccine is here for it.
